B.N. Asthana graduated in 1960 (Civil, University of Roorkee) and joined Irrigation Department, U.P. Obtained M.E. (WRD-UoR) and Ph.D. (IIT Delhi). He worked in different capacities for planning, design and construction of dam projects such as Rihand, Matatila, Ramganga, Tehri, Lakhwar, Kishau, Srinagar etc. After his retirement, as Chief Engineer (Design & Research) in 1997, he is engaged in teaching, research and consultancy projects at the Department of Water Resources Development and Management, IIT Roorkee as Visiting Professor/Guest Faculty. He has guided 40 M. Tech dissertations.
Dr. Asthana has about 90 research papers to his credit published in national and international journals and presented in conferences and symposium. Three papers received Institution of Engineers (India) and CBI&P awards. He has authored a book ‘Sediment Management in Water Resource Projects’ published by CBI&P, New Delhi.

Deepak Khare is a Professor in the Department of Water Resources Development & Management, IIT Roorkee, India. He has 34 years experience in teaching, research and consultancy. He has published about 225 research papers and guided 18 Ph.D. theses and 100 M.Tech dissertations in the area of Water Resources. He has been actively involved in a number of research and consultancy projects and in the design of multipurpose projects.He is teaching design of water resource structures to M.Tech students. Dr. Khare received awards from the AICTE, ISTE, UGC, IWWA and IWRS and is a member of many national level committees including the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Niti Aayog, GOI, New Delhi.
