Jonathan Swift (1667–1745) was an Irish writer, clergyman, and satirist, best known for his masterpiece Gulliver's Travels. A graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, Swift combined sharp intellect with a biting literary style to criticize the politics, society, and human nature of his time.
