Marie LeBel is a historian specialized in intellectual history and a professor in the interdisciplinary program at Université de Hearst. LeBel’s research on Franco-Ontarian intellectuals and creatives, as well as her work on the history of mental health services in Northern Ontario, draws on individual and collective stories as evidence of broader social movements. Marie-Claude Thifault is a historian specialized in psychiatric institutions and mental health care in Quebec and Canada. Thifault is a full professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa and holds the Canadian Francophonie Research Chair in health.
