Ornella Iuorio is Associate Professor of Architectural Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. Formerly, she was Professor and Chair of Architecture and Structures at the University of Leeds, UK. She has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering: Invertors & Innovators by the Guardian in 2022 for the development of innovative lightweight and resilient construction systems with high structural performance and low embodied carbon, which are finding broad applications in mass-manufacturing and seismic areas. With a portfolio of over £6M in research projects, funded by Innovate UK, EPSRC, ESRC, and the British Academy, she has contributed to transforming the construction sector, developing prefabrication, digital and robotic fabrication, and deconstruction strategies to deliver more sustainable constructions.
Prof. Iuorio serves as an Editorial Member for the Springer Journal "Architecture, Structure and Construction" and as a Member of the Management Board of the International Association of Structures and Architecture (IASA).
