Teruo Watanabe graduated from Kyushu University and used to be a full Professor and Chair at Department of Pathology, Saga University and Tsukuba University. He is now an Emeritus Professor of Saga University and Chairman of Division of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, Fukuoka Wajiro Hospital. He has been working on atherosclerosis for 40 years and published more than 300 papers. His research interests include vascular pathology, renal pathology and experimental pathology. He was awarded as Ohshima Atherosclerosis Award in 2007.
Jianglin Fan is Professor and Chairman of Molecular Pathology at University of Yamanashi School of Medicine, Yamanashi, Japan. He is also a Distinguished Professor of Wuyi University. He has been working on atherosclerosis for more than 30 years, including elucidation of the molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis, lipid and lipoprotein metabolism, and inflammation. One of his major achievements was to develop numerous transgenic and knockout rabbit models for the study of cardiovascular disease. His work has led to more than 240 publications in prestigious peer-review journals. Dr. Fan is Chairman of Pathology council of Japan Atherosclerosis Society and President of Japan Rabbit Science Association. He was awarded as Japan Pathology Award in 2021 and Japan Atherosclerosis Award in 2023.
