Beschreibung

Desmond and Markus have tried everything from couples' counseling to threesomes. What's it going to take to stop all these petty arguments?

After seven years together, Desmond still feels like Markus expects him to Be the Boss when he doesn't suit the role. They can't even get excited about each other's bodies anymore... at least, not until the raccoon in their attic shows the boys his human side.

Markus and Desmond both want a man who takes charge. Maybe Azeban the raccoon shifter can give them what the need.

A gay shapeshifter menage romance from award-winning queer Canadian author Giselle Renarde.

“Do we really need to discuss this here?” Desmond asked. “It’s a bedroom thing. It’s private.”

Eleanor nodded, her pen poised gently above her notebook. “Bedroom things are often reflective of larger issues in the relationship.”

“He never wants to talk about it,” Markus said. “But it’s like this huge chasm between us. We need to deal with it.”

“I agree,” Eleanor replied. “But you both need to be ready. Desmond?”

He let out a heavy sigh. No point paying a hundred and seventy dollars an hour to go nowhere. “Fine. We can talk about it, I guess.”

“Would you like to begin?” Eleanor asked when neither of them said anything.

Markus looked at Desmond, expectantly. “Why is it always me that’s gotta start things up?”

“That’s exactly what he says in bed.” Markus leaned back in his chair, setting both elbows on the arm rests and weaving his fingers together.

“Well, why should I? It’s like he thinks that’s my job.”

“Tell Markus,” Eleanor said. “Not me.”

Desmond couldn’t. “It’s like I’ve gotta play the Big Black Man and subdue the little Asian twink. That’s not how I see myself and that’s not how I see him, and it doesn’t work for me.”

“I never asked you to be my Big Black Man,” Markus said.

“Not in words,” Desmond shot back. “But you want me to be the boss, and I don’t want to be the boss—not in our relationship, not in bed…”

Where did that come from?

Eleanor’s office fell silent, except for the little fountain burbling on her desk.

“I don’t want you to be my boss,” Markus said. “I just want you to be my boyfriend.”

“I am your boyfriend. Christ, we’ve only lived together… what, seven years?”

Markus nodded. “I’m not questioning your commitment. That’s not what I meant.”

“Our hour’s nearly up,” Eleanor interrupted. “Markus, you mentioned you don’t want Desmond to be your boss, you want him to be your boyfriend. For homework this week, I’d like you to both write out your needs and expectation—essentially, what it means to be a good boyfriend. Sound do-able?”

“Sounds like a blast,” Desmond said, hoping his deadpan delivery wouldn’t give away how much he didn’t want to bring these sessions home with him.

He did it for Markus. Really, he’d do anything for Markus.

They didn’t talk most of the way home. Then Desmond surprised himself by saying, “You didn’t mention the parties. I thought that’s what you were gonna tell her about.”

“Not yet.” Markus gripped the steering wheel a little tighter. “It’s hard enough finding a gay-friendly couples counsellor around here. I’m just not sure if she’ll be down with the poly angle.”
