Once upon a time, there was a little bear called Bubu Bear. He was a cute and cuddly bear with thick shiny brown fur and a cute face but he had one little flaw. He had come into the world with a big red nose.
The nose was round and shaped like a bubble, and to make things worse, it was a fire-engine red!
Bubu Bear hated his nose. He hated looking at himself in the mirror because he didn’t look like any other bear that he knew. He would often cry, “I am so ugly! Nobody will like me. I am so ugly, Mami!”
But Mami Bear loved her little Bubu Bear. She would hold him in her arms and would soothingly say, “Hush now, Bubu. You’re the cutest bear I’ve ever seen. You’re a little different than the other bears but you’re so cute that no one will notice your nose.” But Mami Bear was wrong.
People did notice the big red nose and so did the other little bears, which made Bubu Bear hate his nose even more. But Dadi Bear just like Mami Bear loved his Bubu Bear. He would hold him tight and boom in his deep voice, “What a lovely child I’ve got. I’ve got the best Bubu Bear in the whole wide world!”
Grandpi and Grandmi found him so adorable that they would hug him tightly and say, “What a lovely grandchild we have.”
But nothing seemed to calm Bubu Bear down. He spent most of his younger bear years hiding away from the rest of the world. He would spend a lot of time in the woods behind his house because it was secluded and no one ever came there.
