Chicago. It's a cold, windy Wednesday night in December. Two strangers meet at a downtown bar for a first date; him, hoping to have found someone to play with; her, not yet sure but intrigued by his promise of being "progressive in the streets, dominant in the sheets". They mesh well, it seems. Having established the ground rules with the necessary respect, she invites him into her home and with a few drinks in, it's not long until they both cave to their mutual attraction and start exploring how far they can go with each other. "Chicago Kink" is a juicy BDSM trilogy written by Desmond Blume, who once again excels at setting the mood for a sexy play session and casually flaunts his BDSM know how. A must read for everyone curious or looking to experiment and try something new – with a stranger, maybe? A compelling reading experience, even for BDSM newbies.

I stand at the corner of Sacramento and Milwaukee. It is a cold, windy Wednesday, December, Chicago night. I look at your picture on my phone, unsure of any chemistry that is about to be explored between us. Sometimes you can’t tell by a person’s dating profile. I had an intuition about you and that is what brings me to be standing across the street from Estereo, waiting for the light to turn green. Estereo is a chic, mezcal, hipster bar in Logan Square. It’s triangular in shape and its windows are actually garage doors that slide open in the summer. Its bathrooms are gender neutral and the walls are tiled with small, rectangular mirrors.

I take the long way around the bar so that I can observe you sitting there, innocently, nervously looking at your phone, glancing up every so often to see if I have arrived. There are people scattered about the bar. There are two bartenders: a woman and a man. The woman is pierced and tattooed. One side of her head is shaved and on the other side she has pinned her long, brown hair in a side tail.

I sidle up next to you and look into your eyes as we meet each other. You smile up at me and I open my arms to give you a hug. We embrace and then I sit down across from you.

“Hi,” I say. I look you up and down once.

We talk about our jobs, families, past relationships. I make stupid jokes. Some of them land and some of them don’t. We feel each other out.
