Chapter One: Grandpa’s Firelight

Rain pattered softly on the windows, dancing across the glass like tiny drummers tapping out a secret tune. The old wooden floor creaked under Grandpa’s slippers as he shuffled into the living room, arms full of firewood. He dropped the logs into the crackling hearth with a satisfied grunt, brushed his hands on his sweater, and lowered himself into his favorite armchair with a contented sigh.

Leo sat nearby, buried under a blanket so thick it made him look like a loaf of bread with hair. He stared at the flickering flames, bored out of his mind.

“No school, no sun, no Wi-Fi,” he grumbled. “Just rain and... and firewood.”

Grandpa raised an eyebrow. “Is that so?” he said, reaching down beside his chair. “Well then. I suppose you’re not in the mood for an adventure?”

Leo blinked.

Grandpa held up a book. But not just any book—this one had a worn leather cover, a golden clasp, and a tiny silver rabbit stamped into the spine.

Leo sat up straighter. “What’s that?”

Grandpa smiled. “This, my boy, is a story older than your video games and longer than the checkout line on chocolate day. This is the tale of The Last Easter.”

“The last... what?” Leo asked, his eyebrows climbing.

“The very last time Easter almost vanished forever,” Grandpa whispered, opening the book with care. “A time of heroes, villains, chocolate catastrophes, and yes… one very important bunny.”

The fire snapped loudly, sending shadows dancing along the walls.

And just like that, the living room began to blur. The armchair faded into clouds. The floor melted into soft green grass. The bookshelf stretched and twisted into tree trunks. Leo’s blanket was gone, replaced by petals and glitter on the wind.

His eyes widened. “Wait—what’s happening?!”

Grandpa’s voice echoed, faint but steady.

“Every good story begins with a question. And this one starts in a world not far from

your own…”

Chapter Two: Lily and the Boy

The rain had stopped in Lily’s village.

Puddles glistened across cobblestones, reflecting the pale morning sky like pieces of broken mirror. Lily skipped along the path outside her house, her red coat flapping in the breeze, a tiny wicker basket swinging from one arm.

Inside the basket were six small chocolate eggs, each hand-wrapped in shiny foil—silver, gold, and one in rainbow. Her grandmother had taught her how to fold them just right so the crinkles lined up perfectly. “Easter’s about surprises,” Granny always said. “Even the small ones can shine the brightest.”

Lily took that seriously.

She passed the park gate and headed toward the old playground. The swings creaked gently in the wind, empty. The sandbox was soggy, the slide still dripping from the night’s storm. And on the far bench sat a boy she’d never seen before, bundled in a jacket too big for him, his shoulders hunched up near his ears.

Lily slowed. He looked about her age—maybe a little older. His shoes were muddy, and he stared at the ground like he’d misplaced something and hadn’t the heart to look anymore.

She walked closer, quietly.

“Hi,” she said gently.

The boy didn’t answer.

She glanced into her basket, then back to him. “Want a chocolate egg?”

Still no reply.

“Rainbow one’s lucky,” she added. “Granny says it always finds the right person.”

Finally, the boy looked up. His eyes were red-rimmed but not from sleep. “My mom’s in the hospital,” he said softly. “Dad lost his job. We’re staying with my uncle... for now.”

Lily’s throat tightened. She didn’t know what to say to that, so instead, she just sat beside him on the bench.

A long pause.

Then she reached into her basket and gently handed him the rainbow-wrapped egg.

“I don’t know what kind of magic is real,” she said, “but sometimes... chocolate helps.”

The boy smiled. Just a little. “Thanks.”

A quiet moment passed. Then Lily stood and hopped toward the wet swings, calling back, “I also sing... terribly, but if you want cheering up—”

He chuckled. “Okay. But only if you promise not to hit the high notes.”

“Deal.”

Unseen behind a thick hedge just outside the park, a pair of long ears twitched.

The Easter Bunny crouched low in the bushes, peering through the leaves with soft brown eyes. His tail wiggled thoughtfully as he watched Lily laugh, swinging too high, her boots flinging raindrops into the air like confetti.

He whispered to himself, “That one… she’s the one.”

And then he vanished into the trees with a shimmer of light and the scent of cinnamon grass.

The Last Easter: A Magical Adventure

Once upon a time, in a magical forest not so far from our world, there existed a special place where Easter magic was born. It was a realm of wonder where flowers bloomed in rainbow hues, where mushrooms glowed at night, and where the most remarkable creatures lived in harmony. Among them was the most important guardian of springtime joy—the Easter Bunny.

The Easter Bunny wasn't like ordinary rabbits. His fur shimmered with tiny specks of gold when moonlight touched it, and his eyes held the wisdom of countless springs. He lived in a cozy burrow beneath an ancient oak tree, its entrance hidden by a curtain of blue forget-me-nots. Inside, his home was filled with wonders that would make any child gasp with delight—shelves of colorful dyes made from magical berries, paintbrushes crafted from unicorn hair, and baskets woven from moonlight.

But the most precious treasure in the Easter Bunny's possession was his magical sack. Unlike ordinary bags, this sack was special beyond imagination. Made from the first rays of spring sunshine and sewn together with threads of pure joy, it possessed extraordinary powers.

"Good morning, magical world," the Easter Bunny exclaimed as he hopped out of bed. "Another wonderful day to prepare for Easter!"

The bunny stretched his long ears and wiggled his pink nose, sniffing the sweet spring air. Easter was only a few days away, and he had to make sure everything was perfect. Children all over the human world were counting on him.

"Let's see," he muttered to himself, checking his mental to-do list. "The egg painters are working, the chocolate molds are ready, and the jelly bean sorters are on schedule. Now for the most important task of all!"

With a hop and a skip, he made his way to a special pedestal in the center of his burrow. There, bathed in a beam of perpetual sunlight, rested his magical Easter egg sack. It glowed softly, pulsating with gentle rainbow colors that seemed to dance across its surface.

"Hello, my dear friend," the Easter Bunny whispered, lovingly stroking the sack. "Ready for another wonderful Easter?"

The sack wiggled slightly in response, as if excited for the big day.

What made this sack so special wasn't just its appearance. The Easter Bunny's magical sack could do extraordinary things. When the Bunny reached inside, he could pull out any Easter treat imaginable—chocolate eggs wrapped in glittering foil, jellybeans that tasted like your favorite dreams, marshmallow chicks that sang tiny songs, and of course, beautifully painted eggs that would make artists gasp in wonder.

But that wasn't all. The sack never ran empty, no matter how many eggs and treats the Bunny pulled out. It could shrink to the size of a walnut or expand to hold mountains of goodies. Most importantly, it helped the Easter Bunny travel quickly between the magical world and the human world, opening special pathways that allowed him to deliver Easter joy to children everywhere in a single night.

"Tomorrow is Easter and I have to get everything ready for the big day," the Easter Bunny declared, his voice filled with excitement and responsibility. "My Easter magic sack is ready!"

He picked up the sack and felt its comforting warmth. With a gentle touch, he opened it and peeked inside. The interior glowed with a soft golden light, seemingly bottomless yet containing all the wonders of Easter.

"Hip hooray! Hide the eggs! Make them shine! This year's Easter will be divine!" the Easter Bunny sang cheerfully as he began to organize his easter preparations.

The forest around the Easter Bunny's burrow was bustling with activity. Hedgehogs like Tumble were rolling colored eggs down grassy hills to test their durability. Squirrels were practicing their egg-hiding techniques, making sure they remembered every special spot. Even the flowers seemed to bloom brighter, as if they too were excited for the celebration to come.

In this magical world, Easter wasn't just a holiday—it was the most important time of year. It was when spring magic reached its peak, when joy and hope renewed themselves, and when the Easter Bunny's special magic touched the lives of children everywhere.

As evening approached, the Easter Bunny carefully placed his magical sack back on its special pedestal. He would need all its power for the big day tomorrow. With a contented sigh, he settled into his chair of woven willow branches and gazed at his precious sack.

"Good night everybody," he yawned, his long ears drooping slightly as exhaustion from the day's preparations caught up with him. "Tomorrow will be the most magical Easter yet!"

Little did he know that far away, in the shadowy corners of the magical forest, evil eyes were watching. General Polecat, the most feared creature in all the land, was plotting something terrible. His whiskers twitched with malice as he gathered his minions.

"Ah, the warehouse is emptying," General Polecat growled to his subordinates, Scruff and Tumble. "And you know what that means? I get difficult when I'm hungry."

The two small creatures trembled before their master.

"I need my calories, my protein, and especially eggs," the General continued, his sharp teeth gleaming in the dim light. "So get out there and find me enough to eat."

What the Easter Bunny didn't realize as he drifted off to sleep was that his peaceful world was about to be turned upside down. For General Polecat didn't just want eggs for a meal—he had discovered the secret of the magical sack and was determined to possess its power, no matter the cost.

Trouble Begins: The Missing Sack

The first light of dawn filtered through the forget-me-not curtains at the entrance of the Easter Bunny's burrow. Birds began their morning songs, and the magical forest stirred to life on what should have been the most wonderful day of the year—Easter morning. The Easter Bunny's eyes fluttered open, and he stretched his paws with a contented sigh. Today was the day! Children all over the world would wake up to discover colorful eggs and sweet treats. The thought made his whiskers twitch with excitement.

"Good morning, magical world!" he exclaimed, hopping out of his cozy bed. "It's Easter Day at last!"

With a spring in his step, the Easter Bunny made his way to the center of his burrow where his magical sack always rested on its special pedestal. He needed to begin his deliveries right away.

But when he reached the pedestal, the Easter Bunny froze. His heart skipped a beat, then began to pound like a drum.

The pedestal was empty.
