hrough the most important events of his life, not only professionally, but even as a young man, Kenneth Langone reveals in great detail the arduous journey that has led him to become one of the most respectable people on Wall Street and, in general, one of the richest and most successful in the world.
Langone tells his readers that he came from a humble, first-generation family of Italian Americans who had no luxury or wealth. He says his mother was a cafeteria worker while his father was a plumber, so he had to work since he was a young boy to earn an income and save money. At the time he was studying, from High School Langone he was able to divide his time to attend classes and have a part-time or full-time job.
The author recounts that although his family was working class, it did not prevent him from dreaming big and wanting to be a successful businessman. After graduating from High School, he decided to go to college, which he did with the help of his parents and the savings he had collected so far. Langone attended Bucknell University, where in addition to being a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, he had several part-time jobs such as butcher's assistant and caddie.
After graduating, Langone earns a B.A. he tries to catch the big fish immediately without wasting time. Langone relates that he tried to get a job with the major and most important companies on Wall Street but was unable to do so because of the disadvantages his Italian roots brought to him.
