Dear Diary,
Mom and dad are fighting again, dad came home a drunken mess again, and mom is doing her best to keep him calm. Mom’s a nut in the nut house and can’t see that dad’s a toxin in her life...in our life. Don’t get me wrong, I love dad, but if the other kids at school found out the real reason I get in trouble all the time they’d just laugh at me. They only see me as a trouble maker, the leader of the bad kids club; I have a reputation and if they find out I’m just a kid with a rough life...they’ll pity me. And I don’t want pity. I’m currently sitting on the floor in front of my mirror, listening to the harsh words my dad spits at my mom, and getting ready for the first day of school. I brushed and pulled my long, curly blonde hair with green streaks into a ponytail and put on some clothes; jeans and a black tank top. I stared down at my scarred arms-knowing I was the school’s psycho...or at least that’s what they call me. Taking one last look in the mirror, I put on my black eye makeup and lipstick then head downstairs with my bag and jacket.
I put my jacket on while I wait for mom by the door, but today it was different. Mom didn’t come, dad did. I silently followed him to the car and got in. “Your mother is a fucking bitch...she’s fucking crazy.” he vented.
“Uh huh, speak for yourself…” I mumbled. He slammed on the breaks and looked at me.
“What was that?” he growled. I opened the car door and started getting out, “Where the hell are you going?!” he continued.
“School..you know...where I always go..” I said with attitude. I closed the car door and walked the rest of the three blocks to school; I was rounding the last turn when the twins with red bouncing curls came running up.
“Kelly!!” Beth squealed and hugged me.
“Uhh Hey Kelly..” Ryan said. They walked with me the rest of the way.
“So has anyone seen Rena? I asked. Rena was the daughter of Catwoman, or should I say minime? Rena looked exactly like her mother but shorter and younger- short black hair and golden green eyes. The twins were Poison Ivy’s kids, both taking her hair and eye color. And of course if you haven’t guessed it I’m the daughter of Harley Quinn and the Joker. Lucky me with my mom’s long blonde hair that has green streaks and my mom’s bright blue eyes or at least they were when I was born; over the depressing years they’ve faded to grey.
“No, we were hoping she was with you.” Beth said as she skipped down the sidewalk.
“How are you so cheerful in the mornings? Especially on a Monday?” I questioned with disgust.
“I dunno...I get up early on a daily basis and I drank a lot of coffee this morning…” she blabbed on.
“Forget I asked..” I said and opened the door to the school. Inside Rena was talking to a group of kids until she seen us.
“Kelly! Beth! Ryan! Hi!” she cheered. Rena was another cheerful morning person. Another headache. Ryan disappeared into the bathroom- like he did every morning before school, probably to escape us girls for a few minutes before dealing with us all day. I’m still not sure how he managed to be the only guy in our group but it is what it is. When the bell rang the four of us made our way to the office to receive our schedules; then went to class.

*halfway*
It was just before lunch and the four of us were sitting in the gym waiting for the lunch bell. “So what’s the big beginning of the year prank?” I asked, realizing the day was half over.
“I don’t know, I didn’t think about it.” Rena laughed.
“Well we need one, so people don’t think we’ve changed.” I gasped.
“Who’s to say we haven’t changed…” Beth commented. We all silently looked at eachother then busted out laughing. Us? Change? Please… we’re the bad kids club. Pranks and trouble is what we do. We’re the children of the villains for crying out loud!
“Think about it and then we talk after lunch.” I commanded and laid down in the bleachers. Beth giggled and slid behind Rena so she could play with Rena’s hair. I rolled my eyes and stared at the ceiling; I started to space out, remembering what happened this morning between mom and dad, then when dad started to take me to school. I could only imagine what it was going to be like when I got home...especially since I had an attitude with dad this morning.
“Kelly….Kelly!” Ryan called out. I jumped and looked at him, not realizing I had wrapped my arms around his legs tightly. They all three stared at me confused. I quickly and awkwardly let go of him and grabbed my bag, cleared my throat, and walked away. I entered the bathroom and locked myself in a stall. I sat there, my hands on my face, trying to calm down. My friends didn’t even know about my parents. They knew who they were...but they didn’t know they fought and all that. I was just about to leave when I heard other girls talking.
“Omg I wonder what Kelly and her squad of hookers has planned for this year.” one commented.
“Why would you call them hookers? And who knows, maybe they’ve changed…” the other guessed.
“I mean come on...one guy and three girls… you have to know one of them is sleeping with him...or all three.” the first one said.
“But isn’t the red head's sister?” the other questioned.
“So? It’s never stopped Deandra. She slept with both her brother and her Cousin…” the first one stated. I just rolled my eyes. I’m in the bathroom with two drama starters- who just happened to be calling me a hooker. The room fell silent when I unlocked the stall door; I slowly opened it to see the two girls gasp and stare at me with big eyes.
“What are you staring at? Is my makeup smeared?” I asked, playing dumb.
They just stood there silently as I walked past; once I was out of sight I heard one of them ask “Do you think she heard us?” which caused me to giggle to myself. I bumped into Ryan as I turned the corner to leave the cafeteria.
“What’s so funny?” he asked.
“I was just locked in the bathroom with two of the drama freaks. They were talking about us, which by the way, did you know that we’re all hookers and Beth is sleeping with Ryan...that we’re all sleeping with him?” I died of laughter, “Then they started talking about Deandra. And wow...it’s just great.” They all just stared at me like I had lost it.
“Come on honey...let’s just go sit down…” Beth said and pulled me by the arm to a table. Ryan and Rena sat across from us, so that we were still grouped up. We sat there in silence as we waited for the bell and as we waited for the other students to take their seats away from us.
“Okay so here’s what I’m thinking…. Blood filled balloons in the gym and during the assembly tomorrow we release them.” I gasped.
“So you mean like a carrie thing?” Beth questioned.
“Yes and no.” I continued, “We’ll have millions of balloons filled with blood, then when they fall we pop them with bb guns so the blood splatters on everyone right before pictures. Ruining picture day for everyone.”
“Okay...but how are we going to pull it off?” Rena asked.
“The hospital has blood… the store has balloons… we do what we do best…” I smiled evilly to the side, my mouth almost touching my right shoulder. They laughed.
“Okay so we start off simple, then work our way up to the big stuff?” Ryan clarified. I nodded and got up to go get something to eat.

*Right before the last bell*
Ryan and were sitting in math, Rena and Beth were across the hall in spanish, waiting for the last bell of the school day. The class was silent because we all were supposed to be working on homework but Ryan and I weren’t even trying. We were passing notes and giggling the whole time. When the bell rang I bolted from the room and down the hall with the others behind me. I ran straight away from the building and into the car with mom. “Hi sweetie, how was school?” she asked. She sounded tired and stressed.
“Same as always...it’s hell.” I said and looked at her- a few loose strands of my hair falling out of my ponytail and into my face. She smiled and tucked them behind my ears.
“How about we go for ice-cream? Get away from the house for a while?” she offered. Was she finally coming to her senses?
“Sounds good. Where’s dad?” I answered.
“He’s working late again. Probably won't be home until early tomorrow morning again.” she sighed. She means dad’s out and is gonna come home drunk again. I don’t see why she just doesn’t kick him out or move out. She starts the car and we head to the ice-cream shop; I shoot a text to the others, letting them know I’ll give them a heads up when I can get out of the house. A few minutes later mom and I pull into a parking lot and get out; we enter the shop and she orders her chocolate lovers blizzard and I order a small cup of vanilla ice-cream. We carry it outside and sit at a table under an umbrella.
