“Fortunate people often have favorable beginnings and very tragic endings. What matters isn’t being applauded when you arrive-for that is common-but being missed when you leave.” - Baltasar Gracian
Chapter 1
Malcolm Abioye rose from the ground slowly. He shook his head clearing the cobwebs everything coming into view. He felt a chill looking down. Bandages. Zakaiya and the Heralds circling him he sensed deeply exhaling slowly. He could feel the Vim and the Mana he just couldn’t see- A shimmering golden light illuminated them all almost too bright to view. All eyes skyward the Heralds fell to their knees bowing their heads on the ground. Malcolm looked at Zakaiya frowning. She smiled back her eyes looking back up tearing up. Malcolm glowered at the source of the light his lips curling into a defiant sneer.
Michael and Adel flew through the air beside the Robespierre twins a cloud of dust roaring up behind them. “I don’t even fucking believe this.” Michael said eyes narrowing. “Her subordinates were a decent warm up but, it seems we’ve slightly underestimated the Cannonade’s resolve.” Taryn said a pale green aura building around her as the quartet increased the speed of their flight.”Looked like you were doing a bit more than warming up.” Adel said. “Mind your tongue Blueberry.” Taryn shot back. To their rear the cloud was sweeping over everything desiccating all in it’s path dissolving it instantly. “Anyone see where she went?” Michael said his onyx aura blazing brightly.
“In front of us.” Maxmillian said braking. Tera was floating before them arms crossed. “You sprites are quite amusing, our fun ends here I’m afraid.” “Fun? You call this fun? You’re mad.” Michael said. “Gonna stay and get dusty with us?” Taryn said eyeing Tera wildly smiling. “Silly child.” Tera said sticking out her hand. In a flash of orange a giant spiked hammer appeared in her hand. The golden war hammer shimmered as rested it upon her shoulder. Maxmillian, Taryn, and Michael readied their arms. Adel was already shooting forward the air cracking as she drew back connecting with Tera’s hammer the air around them shattering from the force of the collision. Maxmillian and Michael drew appearing on both sides of Tera weapons singing. With unparalleled speed she parried Michael’s blades with her bare hand spinning through him and punching Maxmillian square in the nose. Taryn struck from above her as she made a back swipe at Michael who managed to bring his blades up just in time. Maxmillian recovered aiming his palm at Tera. A shower of golden fireballs erupting from Gage, Tera vanished in a burst of dust. “Shit.” Maxmillian said as she appeared before him catching him by the wrist.
Michael rolled his eyes. “We’re running out of room.” Taryn said. The storm of sand and earth roaring up behind them. “Fuck all.” Michael growled eyes flashing onyx. Michael crouched weapons in hand shadowy mana creeping over him. “Dusksunder!” Michael said releasing a double wave of onyx that sliced through the storm cutting a swathe through the center the storm passing above and beneath them. Tera raised an eyebrow looking Michael over. “Impressive. What’s your name?” she said. “Korvin. Michael Korvin.” he responded frost emanating from his words. “I shall be sure to remember that.” she said smiling. Maxmillian snatched away from her and in a burst of silver flame he was next to Michael. “Terrifying technique that.” Maxmillian said looking Michael in the eyes. “Piss off.” Michael said sweat beading on his forehead.
Roman Abioye watched as smoke and mana clouded than dissipated before his eyes. As Stephen Drosselmeyer rose from the clamour Roman sensed several Manas building around him. Stephen smiled The Moon Children surrounding Roman. “Meredith, I said he belongs to me!” Stephen said. “We don’t have time for your petty nonsense.” Meredith said. “I created this monster, should I not be the one to put him down?” “You take to much credit, and dishonor your siblings. Also the assist from the Knights of Crimson.” “Dresdin Palmur is not to be trusted. Not now not ever.” Stephen said with disdain. Roman glared up at Stephen eyes spooky and large. “One thing we can agree on.” he said holding Bluush ready to strike crimson Mana surging around him.
Chapter 2
Waarp sat atop Telum’s back blood covering his face. Before him was the gladiator from Shuga’s side now floating before Paco. Waarp was surrounded by the Wolves of Yorinn his selected warriors along with Avalis and Luciana. Erika watched the Gladiator closely having arrived with him moments earlier. “Hangin with him now?” Waarp said looking at her. “He’s my-my dad.” Erikka said cheeks rosy. “Nahh.” “Yeaaaa.” she said eyes narrowing. The other Deus Espada members along with the twins Stevie and Ashe all were next to Erikka. “Now this is a bit awkward.” Waarp said. “I can’t take it anymore.” Avalis said climbing onto Telum behind Waarp. “Ava?” Luciana said. She pulled a bandanna from her pocket licking it and wiping it over Waarp’s face reaching around him. “Hey!” Waarp said squirming. “Hold still.” Avalis said. “Really? Right now?” “Somebody has to take care of you.” “I can take care of myself.” “That’s debatable.” Avalis said.
Blain looked over his shoulder down at Waarp and the Erikka. “You and him? You can do better.” he said. “Daaad.” Erikka said blushing. “How wonderfully absurd, you? You are aligned with this riff raff? What are you playing at old man?” “My words are not for you. They are for the one that took Diahna.” Blain said eyes glowing toxic green. “I see.” “Allow me to send her a message by delivering your head.” “Ready when you are senor.” Paco said smiling bubbles whirling around him. “For me? Not a chance.” Blain said as toxic green sparked all over him.
