In each of the following stories:
start by reading each paragraph of each story in Englishthen read the same paragraph in Portuguesethen move to the next paragraph and do the same01 - THE SPRING | A PRIMAVERA
Spring begins on the twenty-first of March and lasts until the twenty-first of June. Spring is very nice and beautiful. The flowers grow. Trees and fields are covered with vegetables and birds sing on them. All men, women and children are happy.
A primavera começa em 21 de março e dura até 21 de junho. A primavera é muito agradável e e linda. As flores crescem As árvores e os campos estão cobertos de vegetais e os pássaros cantam nelas. Todos os homens, mulheres e crianças são felizes.
Sometimes it is cold in April and still in May. Sometimes, but not often, there is snow and ice in April, and then many flowers and plants die.
Às vezes faz frio em abril e novamente em maio. Às vezes, mas não frequentemente, em abril há neve e gelo e muitas flores e plantas morrem.
02 - THE SUMMER| O VERÃO
We have talked about winter and spring. There are two other seasons that are called summer and autumn. The summer lasts from June 21 until September 21. It's very hot in the summer. Beautiful flowers are everywhere. Grains abound on the fields and the trees are full of fruit.

At the beginning of summer, the days are longer and the nights are shorter. Then the days become smaller and the nights longer.

03 - THE AUTUMN|O OUTONO
In the fall fruits such as apples, pears, peaches and plums are picked. The peasants harvest wheat, corn, oats and potatoes. In the autumn wine is made.
No outono, frutas como maçãs, peras, pêssegos e ameixas são colhidas. Os agricultores colhem trigo, milho, aveia e batatas. No outono, o vinho das uvas é feito.
After the harvest, the trees lose their leaves. First the leaves turn brown, yellow, red or purple and then fall to the ground. The flowers and vegetation sleep during the winter.
Após a colheita, as árvores perdem suas folhas. Primeiro as folhas ficam marrons, amarelas, vermelhas ou roxas e depois caem no chão. As flores e a vegetação dormem durante o inverno.
04 - THE WINTER|O INVERNO
Winter is the cold season. In the winter the days are very short and the nights are very long. When it is very cold the water freezes and snow falls. In the torrid zone there is no ice or snow, and it is always hot. In temperate zones there is no ice or snow except in the winter. In the glacial areas there is ice and snow during all seasons.
O inverno é a estação fria. No inverno, os dias são muito curtos e as noites muito longas. Quando está muito frio, a água congela e a neve cai. Na zona quente não há gelo ou neve, e está sempre quente. Em áreas temperadas, não há gelo ou neve, exceto no inverno. Nas regiões glaciais há gelo e neve durante todas as estações
The boys are happy when it freezes and the snow falls. Then they skate in the rivers and in the frozen lakes. They make snowballs and throw them at each other and play war. They also make snowmen. When the snow has fallen the boys bring their sleds on the snow.

When it thaws and the snow disappears, the children are very sad because they can not skate or play with snowballs anymore. But the poor are very happy, because during the winter it is too cold for them. In the spring they are not cold. The winter lasts from the twenty-first of December to the twenty-first of March.
