How To Set Up Your Destiny Prayer Altar
Destiny prayer must not be mechanical. A Mechanical prayer is an involuntary, unthinking, or unconscious prayer. I mean, destiny prayer requires praying on purpose. Until you know your divine assignment or have clues to your life purpose, you are bound to pray amiss. To pray amiss means that you pray with wrong motives, praying to please your ego rather than your soul.
James 4:3
You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
Asking the light of God to shine upon your destiny requires adequate planning and understanding. You must have it at the bottom of your heart that you are praying concerning your life mission.
1 Cor 14:14-15
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
You must ask God for the spirit of wisdom, revelation and understanding.

A destiny prayer is more of prayer of dedication (commitment) than prayer of supplication (request). In this kind of prayer, you have to reverence God, asking his kingdom – which is the good things He has planned for your destiny - to come upon you, according to His Will in heaven. His Will in heaven is that you fulfill your divine destiny on earth.
Luke 11:2
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Again, for prayer of destiny to be effective self must die. This is because your destiny is not to be enjoyed by you but to be a blessing to those God sent you to serve in your generation. So, fulfilling your divine assignment means making up your mind to live a life of significance, which means a life dedicated to living for others. I know you like to pray for, and cast your life vision. This implies that you will soon become the servant leader God designed you to be. Now your vision must be a sincere mission having to do with the well being of others. You must have at the bottom of your heart that you will be leaving your comfort zone, like Nehemiah, and live for others.
When you pray that God should bless you, let your reason be that you want to meet the need of others but not just yourself. A life devoted to taking people out of oppression and injustice.
