Elly is happy with her life. She enjoys waking up from in her crib, having her nappy changed and then being held in a warm pair of arms as she is being fed from a milk bottle. So, when she wakes up one day in a hospital and is told by the police in uniform that she has been 'saved from those dreadful werewolves and their sick fantasies', she's understandably confused and adamant on going home.

~~~~~ Excerpt ~~~~~
Elly wakes up feeling adrift and not at all like herself. The first sign that things aren't normal is that she can move around freely.
She looks around, trying to find Daddy. He doesn't like leaving her alone for very long, so she knows he'll be close. The more she looks, the more she panicked she gets because there are many people moving about and none of them is her Daddy. Her eyes fill with tears and she curls her knees up against her chest. She resists the urge to suck her thumb in her mouth because she doesn't know if her thumb is clean and Daddy gets upset when she does it.
"Hello," one of the older nurses walk over to her side, the skin between her brow furrowing when she looks at her. "How're you feeling, darling?" she asks.
Daddy says she shouldn't talk to strangers, but if she doesn't talk to her, she won't be able to help her find her Daddy. "Where's Daddy?" she asks, her voice a little shrill and panicked because she's feeling a little panicked. Her heart is beating very quickly.
"Your father's not here," she says kindly. "Do you remember how you got here?"
She shakes her head and curls up tighter. The last thing she remembers is going out for a walk with Daddy for their weekly walk and then running into one of his friends. She doesn't like John. He is always looking at her like there's something wrong with her.
"You were rescued," she says. "Someone remembers seeing your missing poster and rescued you from your kidnappers."
"Rescued?" she echoes, her voice shrill and child-like. It makes the nurse cringe and she doesn't feel any better for having said it in the first place. The word feels weird on her tongue, feels wrong. She didn't- she doesn't need rescuing. She's happy with Daddy. She remembers how terrible her life was before Daddy came along and took care of everything for her.
"Yes," she says and her enthusiasm is fast waning, like Elly isn't what she had expected and she's fast losing interest. Elly doesn't blame her. She had been invisible before her Daddy found her too.
Daddy sees her though. Daddy sees her all the time and takes care of her and makes sure she's always warm and her tummy is always full and he gives the best hugs. She misses him. She wishes he was there. "Where's Daddy?" she asks again, hopeful that she'll get it if she repeats it enough times even though a part of her remembers that's not how things work around here. Here, everything needs payment. Everything's a transaction.
The lines on her forehead grows deeper. "Why don't you wait here? I'll go get the officer handling your case," she says, dismissing her with a pat on her knee that Elly successfully flinches away from so she doesn't touch her.
Daddy doesn't like it when other people touch her. He's a werewolf and has a very powerful sense of smell. He'll be able to smell if someone's touched her.
Chapter One: Rescued
Elly wakes up feeling adrift and not at all like herself. The first sign that things aren't normal is that she can move around freely. Daddy always puts her in a swaddle when she goes to sleep because she moves around so much. She reaches out with her arm and doesn't find the pillars of her crib, fingers touching the air instead. It's disorienting and a little scary because her bed is bigger than this. The bed smells unfamiliar, slightly medicinal and bitter. She opens her eyes and sees that even her music toys are missing.
Daddy got her a galaxy one a few weeks ago that she really loves. Daddy will let her play with the music over and over until goes to sleep and sometimes, it would still be spinning lazily over her head when she wakes from her afternoon naps. There's no music either nor is there the familiar pink ceiling.
She pushes herself up into a sitting position and gasps when she looks around to see nothing at all familiar. There are beds around her, some curtained off and women in nurse uniforms moving around, fussing with the prone bodies lying in the beds. The people look tired and sick, curled up to their sides and some of them are sucking their thumbs. It's something she does when she's stressed too. It's scary and she wishes Daddy were here.
She has spent a little time in hospital a few months ago when she got a terrible cough from one of the other Babies. Daddy has been so worried about her getting sick after that and was very upset with his pack member for bringing his baby to a playdate even though he's sick. Humans are so terribly fragile.
She looks around, trying to find Daddy. He doesn't like leaving her alone for very long, so she knows he'll be close. The more she looks, the more she panicked she gets because there are many people moving about and none of them is her Daddy. Her eyes fill with tears and she curls her knees up against her chest. The lines on her forehead grows deeper. "Why don't you wait here? I'll go get the officer handling your case," she says, dismissing her with a pat on her knee that Elly successfully flinches away from so she doesn't touch her.
Daddy doesn't like it when other people touch her. He's a werewolf and has a very powerful sense of smell. He'll be able to smell if someone's touched her.
The other nurses have been looking at her through the corner of their eyes too even though they're pretending to be busy. She doesn't like it when people look at her. Daddy is usually scary enough that people leave her alone. She pushes herself back with the soles of her feet until her back is pressed against the wall and counts to hundred over and over again, wishing that every time she reaches a hundred, she would look up and Daddy will be here, but it doesn't happen.
She had repeated it for what must be the fifteenth time when she hears someone clears his throat loudly next to her. At first, she thinks the man is probably sick and it's a good thing they're in a hospital because there are plenty of doctors around, but when he says, "Hello there." Oh. He's talking to her.
His voice is kind of deep and a little bit scratchy, like he had been smoking since he was ten and has hurt his throat permanently and his voice doesn't really work the way it's supposed to anymore.
She looks up and sees the man. He's older-looking with white strands of her among dark brown. It doesn't make him look softer, though. He is very scary-looking, even with the bit of belly around his tummy. He'll be less frightening if her Daddy's here because her Daddy towers over most people and is a wolf. Most everyone's scared of Daddy, even other wolves.
Her eyes burn with tears when she peers past him at the door and sees that the person walking in isn't Daddy.
"It's okay. You're safe now. You're safe here. Can you tell us your name?"
She shakes her head. She doesn't want to tell him her name. She doesn't want to tell him anything. Except maybe- "Where's Daddy?" she asks, beginning to feel like a broken record. It's all she's said since she's woken up and nobody's answered her yet.
"You don't have a father, Elly. You're an orphan."
That's not true. She shakes her head as tears trickle down her cheeks. She has a daddy. He's lying. Daddy's going to come for her soon and he'll be proven wrong.
He sighs. "Can you tell us anything about what happened to you?" he asks.
She shakes her head, sniffing and rubbing away her tears with the back of her hand. "I- I- I want my Daddy," she whines, feeling ridiculous and a little desperate.
His frown intensifies and he chooses to ignore her whimper. "Do you know what your name is?"
She nods. She doesn't know what to do and why he's asking her that. The man hesitates, waiting to see if she will continue, but when she just continues to wipe away her tears quietly and ignoring him, he lets out a long sigh and continues.
"Okay, can you tell me your name? he asks, sounding annoyed.
She shakes her head. Now she's sure something's wrong. If Daddy brought her here, they would've known her name. For some inexplicable reason, she doesn't want him to know.
"Alright." He sounds really upset now. "That's fine. We have your name on record regardless. Your name is Elaine Rivas. You're eighteen years old as of two days ago. You were rescued during an undercover operation into a Werewolf kidnapping ring yesterday."
