Jacqueline ‘Diamond’ Bloomberg

Jacqueline ‘Diamond’ Bloombergwas the daughter of the wealthiest Banker in the country. Did that make her the rich spoiled brat, no it certainly didn't at the age of 29 she had managed to buy a failing country wide bank that had close almost three quarters of its branches and injected ‘Diamond’ power into it, this was her nickname and she insisted that everyone from the cleaner to board members call her by it.

The name summed her up well she was a diamond in her looks and a diamond to all that worked for her. No two tier hierarchy in her banks everyone worked together and ate in the same canteen. If a worker was sick she organised the health care, indeed in a few case she had learned about fathers and mothers of workers had fallen ill only to be visited in hospital by Diamond and reassured that the bill would be paid for. So it comes as no surprise that she was adored by her staff and indeed everyone that knew her or came into business contact with her.

To say her Dad was proud of her would be like saying mount Everest was a pimple, he worshipped her, you could tell when he spoke of her how burningly proud he was of his successful and yes brave Daughter. In their country national service for men and women was obligatory, her Dad tried hard to pull strings with the chiefs of staff of all the armed forces to have her exempt, that's just how powerful he was. There was no way he was going to lose his pride and joy to a roadside bomb or sniper round.

This was before her business career and when she learned of his deal with the heads of service she went wild. “How dare you show me up like this father, do you not realise what they would say, ‘She is rich she doesn't need to go fight, my life wouldn't be worth living, Also this is my country to, and I have the right to defend it.”

Her Dad broke down and cried,

“baby I can’t lose you,”

she hugged him

“sorry Daddy but you have no choice."

Army days

Secretly she packed a case and snuck out and quietly entered the Officer training camp. When her Dad found out he was livid, he tried everything to get her out but she was adamant and completed the Officers course then joined her Battalion. At first the men under her command scoffed and thought ohh little miss rich girl here for an easy ride, they soon ate their words, she arranged for an hour earlier than normal reveille. She would then inspect them and take them on a 10 mile run, EVERY morning, at first they complained bitterly but when it became clear that she could out run them, out shoot them, and beat them every time on the assault course, they started to have a great deal more respect for this diminutive little girl. So it was that Alfa Platoon B company was the fittest fastest and most well organised Platoon in the Battalion.

After their training at base camp they were deployed to the conflict zone, there the fitness of her men and their loyalty to her showed in their professionalism and results. Indeed she won not one but two golden hearts for bravery in the face of enemy fire, the second of which she earned for carrying a badly injured comrade one mile through enemy held territory back to safety. All of this did nothing for her Father who complained very vocally about his daughter being made a focal point for Army recruitment and being put in mortal danger. Saying this, when he was alone he was bursting with pride at his little girl, it was just not possible to be more proud of her, serving her country and doing it so very, very, well. So it was that at the end of six years she was asked by her superiors to sign on for another term but her Dad begged her saying his heart could not stand any more torment and she had done more than prove herself to the country.
