CHAPTER ONESeth stared through the window of Mark Hollis' private jet. The wide expanse of countryside below was changing now. The checkerboard pattern of orchards and farms had faded into a rugged green wildness. He took another pull on his bourbon and watched the first of the giant Sequoias come into view.
