INTRODUCTION

The Andy Cohen Diaries and Superficial are two books written by the author since their last publication. The author developed an undercurrent of minor paranoia and became aware of what he did every day for two and a half years. This cemented his decision to have a child, something he'd spoken of metaphorically but never meaningfully pursued. The year before Ben was born, the author lived his final period as a totally unencumbered man and was ready to have a child. The birth of Ben and the rehoming of Wacha solidified the author's decision to have a child.

Wacha, a dog from the hills of West Virginia, became a superstar after being replaced with bad hips. He became distrustful of vets, groomers, and dog walkers, and was occasionally threatening. In 2016, he was sent to Los Angeles for rehabilitation with an incredible trainer. When Ben was born, he showed normal signs of jealousy, but a month before Covid shut the world down, he realized he couldn't trust that Wacha and Ben could live safely under the same roof. After six years, the author said goodbye to Wacha, who opened her up to love and family.
