Living Word
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Jesus is the living and active Word of God. He is the Word made flesh. What he says reflects the Father’s heart. Knowing this, you might wonder what he has to say to you today. Taken from the Sermon on the Mount, let his words settle into your heart and receive them as the life-giving gift they are.
You are valuable to God, and he takes care of you! Rest in the assurance of his loving care and let go of worry. The Word says that the Father will always take care of you. You can trust what he promises!
Lord Jesus, thank you for the reminder that I am seen, loved, and taken care of by the Father. I wholeheartedly trust you to provide what I need.

Reason to Delight

The law of the Lord is full of wisdom to guide, help, and correct you. Delight yourself in the law of the Lord, and you will receive the blessing of walking in the light of God’s favor. Fill your mind with the Word, and you will feast on the truth that sets you free!
There are plenty of reasons to delight in the Lord today. He is full of love for you. He is ready to forgive you. He is gentle and easy to please. He is wise, and he never lies. He is your steady rock and your protective refuge, available whenever you call out to him. He is your Savior, your healer, and your liberator. He is your friend, your advocate, and your wise counselor. Fill your mind with his character, and you’ll never be at a loss for reasons to delight.
Father God, thank you for the power of your living Word that lightens my load, brings ease to my heart, clarity to my mind, and healing to my body. I delight in you.

Living Hope
According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

If you are in Christ, you are free. If you have surrendered your life in faith to the leadership of Christ, you are saved. If you believe that he is the Son of God and your Savior, you have no reason to give in to fear today.
According to God’s great mercy, you have been born to a living hope—a hope without end. No matter what you are facing, no matter the trials or challenges you come across along the way, God is your firm foundation, and his hope is accessible to you today. His hope is alive, and it will be forever! Take heart in your loving Savior and look to him today. He is with you!
Lord Jesus, you are my living hope. Even when everything else feels murky, you are the clarity my mind and heart need. Breathe your peace over me as I look to you today. I depend on you!

Innocent
He chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in love before him.

Jesus’ love covers you completely. He does not see you with eyes of disappointment, nor does frustration upset his affection for you. It is in love that he chose you as his own before the foundations of the universe were laid. It is love that reaches through the cloud of your struggle and reminds you who you are to him.
God looks at you and sees his innocent child. This doesn’t mean that you will never mess up, but that his love for you is not conditional. His fierce love reaches you in your best moments, your worst, and every spot between. Rise up in the confidence of his love for you—love that moves mountains, heals your heart and body, and makes you completely whole. You are loved, and that is more than enough.
Father, broaden my understanding of your love for me. May I be so deeply rooted in your love that it becomes my greatest source of strength.

You are as precious to God as anyone who ever lived. He loves you more than you can imagine or comprehend. He will never leave you to struggle on your own. He doesn’t require that you prove yourself worthy of his leadership. He is as close as anyone can possibly be, and his presence never lets up.
Turn toward your Good Shepherd today and follow him. The plans he has for you are good, and when you face obstacles, he is with you. He has solutions for your problems, wisdom for your confusion, and love to overcome your fear with courage. He is faithful to do all that he has set out to do. Trust him, for he has promised to be with you even as he was with Moses!
Faithful Father, you are the God who guides me and the God who stays. Show me just how close you are as I open my heart to you in wonder.

God is not finished with you. The work he began in you is active. He will not let up or let you go. Let your heart soar in hope as you realize that no one can take away what God says about you! No one can turn the tide of his love away from you. He cannot be tricked or manipulated.
God is not a man that he would lie. He is fully good, fully faithful, and fully merciful. Turn your eyes from the larger problems you cannot change and take a closer look at what is already available—the goodness, beauty, and love in your life. What God has begun, he will continue to completion. Don’t worry if you’re not where you want to be or hoped you would be by now. God is working his miraculous power through the details of your life.

Good Gifts
God did not give us a spirit that makes us afraid but a spirit of power and love and self-control.

God gives good gifts, and this includes the way he relates to you. He doesn’t intimidate or force you to fall in line. He is patient, kind, and consistent. He is the safest, surest foundation to build your life upon.
Look at the fruit of your relationships. Where is there fear, control, or lack? Where are you insecure? Is it because of your experience, or is it because of the way others make you feel? No matter the state of your relationships, you can know the stability of God’s friendship. God offers his own Spirit, and his Spirit is not weak. You have the Spirit of power, love, and self-control. What do you long for more of today? Go to your gracious God and open your heart to receive straight from the source.
Good Father, thank you for the power, love, and wisdom you offer so freely through your Spirit. On this special day, I come to you with an open heart, ready to receive the goodness you offer.

Inexpressible Joy

You don’t have to see the wind to know its power. You don’t have to understand the ocean’s link to the moon to observe the tides. There is so much mysterious wisdom at work in the world, and it all points back to the Creator of all things.
In the presence of God there is peace that passes understanding, love that fills you and expands your heart, and joy that flows from within where God’s Spirit pours into you. Let today be a day where you don’t put a cap on joy. Let it rise up and lead you to dance, sing, shout, laugh, and play! Joy is not reserved for celebrations. It is a necessary provision on the hardest days. Though you do not see God, let your heart grow in wonder as you recognize the fingerprints of his mercy all over your life.
Glorious God, I rejoice in who you are and that you never change. You are always close, always good, and always working. I love you!

You are not at the end of your journey. Even if you have reached the end of a chapter of your life, the greater arc of your story keeps going. If you find yourself at a precipice on this day, receive the encouragement of God’s promised nearness.
What’s coming next could be your greatest adventure! Dare to dream while you take the hand of your faithful God and step out. Even if it seems as if you are going in circles, perhaps all you need is a perspective shift. You have traveled up the mountain this far in ever-tightening circles. You are further along than you might know; you’re just at a different elevation! Trust the Lord who goes with you. He will not fail you!
Lord my God, I yield my heart to you. I trust you in the transitions of life, as well as in the steady times. Lead me on and fill my heart with hope as you pull back the curtain of the mysterious unknown.

As you get to know God better and better, your life will show it. The fruit of his Spirit will be evident in you as you continue to draw closer to the source of every good and perfect gift. Fruit doesn’t grow overnight. Beware of those who promise quick success or who demand overnight change. The greatest growth you experience is over time, in the little choices.
Every step matters, and you don’t have to look past what is available to you today to know the goodness of God in your midst. Every repair in relationship after a misunderstanding, every little bit of awe attended to as the sky turns from blue to pink at dusk, every act of generosity is evidence of God’s work in you.
God, thank you for the permission to take my time and not reach or rush toward perfection. I will delight in the daily gifts of grace, especially of getting to know you more.

Follow Through

God always accomplishes every purpose and plan in his heart. He is the God of follow-through. It isn’t hard for him to keep his word. If you are united with Christ, you have been ushered into the kingdom of God. You are his child. You can depend on his goodness. You get to benefit from the glorious abundance of all that God has!
Don’t worry; you can’t accidentally fall outside the bounds of his love. His love is so large it encompasses everything and everyone. You are in the river of his grace, and you get to lay back in trust as God does what only he can do. When your heart is tested, remember how great God is and that you belong to him.
Faithful Father, thank you for being so dependable. I trust you in the face of impossible odds. I trust you with my heart and my life.

You are not only a child of God. You are more than that as you join your life to Christ. You are a co-heir with him. If you walk with him on his path of sacrificial love, you can be sure you will also be glorified with him.
The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit, and you can count on receiving those not only in eternity, but here and now. You can go to your Father anytime you need him. He has an open-door policy! You can reach him at all times through prayer. His Spirit is ready to rush in to remind you of God’s nearness. Whatever you need today, go to your Father. He has abundant goodness to share with you.
Heavenly Father, thank you for access to your throne room through Christ. Fill my life with the things of your kingdom.

God is a rescuer. He doesn’t leave you under the authority of darkness. He sent Christ to provide the path to freedom. He is your Savior and your hope. There is more goodness available through his Spirit than you have yet tasted.
Today is the day to remember the power of God’s gift to you through Christ. He has not only forgiven you of your sins, but he has also set your heart and soul completely free! He is the God who heals you and sets you free. There are so many reasons to rejoice today! You belong in the kingdom of the Son, and he delights in offering you endless gifts of grace.
Lord Jesus, you are the way, the truth, and the life. You are my freedom and my hope. I rejoice in who you are, what you have done, and what you are still doing in me!

The earth is in constant motion. The transition of seasons happens slowly over time. It might seem like one day it’s warm, the trees are lush, and the next time you notice, summer has turned to fall, edging quickly toward winter. You might not notice the subtle shifts as they happen, but they are actively moving the needle.
Don’t be discouraged by the lack of movement you see in your life. Look back through the lens of hindsight, and you will see the patterns and shifts that happened over time. Every small movement matters. The season of life you’re in now? It won’t remain the same, but the goodness of God is evident in every stage.
Creator God, thank you for the reminder that things don’t stay stagnant. I am not stuck, and you are moving mightily (and incrementally) in my life. I’m so grateful!

When Scripture instructs you to be holy as God is holy, it is not so much a call for unyielding perfection as it is a reminder to align your life with God. It is Christ that perfects you; you get to join with his heart and shape your life after his nature.
Pattern your life after God’s love and you will know the power of his mercy. He has called you to walk in faith, to partner with his peace, and to overflow with his joy. He is the God who meets you where you are. He lifts you out of the miry pit and sets your feet on solid ground. He promises to be with you as you step out in obedience. Don’t stay on the sidelines waiting for someone else to initiate change. Only you can take that step of faith. There is so much waiting for you as you do!
Lord, I will shape my life after you. The more I get to know you, the more I understand what you are like, and the more I become like you as I pattern my behaviors after yours.

Today is not a day to change course for popular opinion. It isn’t time to shrink back from your passionate pursuit. Keep pressing in. Keep following the one who called you out of darkness. Keep following the clarity and alignment of your heart.
No one else can decide your trajectory. There is nothing wrong with pivoting when the need arises. But do not leave your strongest ties of connection behind. There are safe spaces for you to dwell, no matter what is going on around you. There are things you know in the depths of your soul that you were meant for. Don’t give up on those things! Don’t walk away from the relationships that nourish your soul, heart, and mind. Keep following the lover of your soul.
God, you are my God, and I won’t abandon you. But the greater truth is that you will never abandon me!

God does not call you to a life of faith disconnected from good deeds. How you act reflects what you believe. Do you want to know how to live a good life? Love your neighbor. Lend a helping hand to those who may never be able to repay you. Be generous, kind, and forgiving.
It is always more about your character than your ideals. If you want to live a good life, let your actions reflect the person you want to be, even if you feel like an imposter from time to time. What you do, how you show up, and who you interact with all matter to God. Walk in his ways, and it will be clear for all around you to see.
Lord, thank you that your love is practical. Show me where I can grow in your goodness in specific ways this year.

In order to have hope today, you don’t have to change a thing about your life. All you need to do is open your eyes. Having a hard time seeing the glimmers of goodness? Ask the Lord to open the eyes of your heart so that you might see the rich hope you have.
Instead of focusing on what you can do more of today, turn your attention to what is already growing in your life. Where have the seeds of intention turned to seedlings of hope? Take time to notice what goodness exists in and around you. No gift is insignificant. No piece of beauty is too small. Gather them into a basket of gratitude. Open your eyes, and you will see!
Glorious One, thank you for the signs of your love and goodness in my life. Open the eyes of my heart that I may not miss a single blessing.

If you find yourself in a struggle, don’t lose heart. God is with you. He will take care of you, fighting your battles when necessary and bringing restoration to all that you lost in the battle. He is good, he is faithful, and you can trust him.
What the Lord says, he does. Look to him today if you feel your heart beginning to waver. He is ready to refresh you with his peace, strengthen you in his grace, and rescue you with his righteous power. You don’t have to worry. Even when the odds seem stacked against you, God has already planned a route for your escape. Trust him. He is with you, and he will take care of you. It’s his promise!
Lord God, you are my promised help, and I depend on you. You are the God of my victory, and the God of my healing. You never leave me or neglect me. You are with me in every battle, and I won’t lose hope!

Do you have a place where you keep God’s promises to you? Return to it today, noting what he has already accomplished. If you don’t, today is the perfect opportunity to write down the Scriptures and words he has spoken over your heart and life. Some promises will be fulfilled quickly, while others may take years. Don’t lose hope. Yesterday’s prayers become today’s blessings. He is still working his mercy out in your life. He is a man of his Word always.
Faithful Lord, I trust that you will fulfill every promise you have made, and I leave room for the mystery of your timing.

Does this mean God failed you, or that you failed him? No. You will go through times of testing, hardship, grief, and loss. But you also go through times of peace, victory, and overwhelming hope.
Can you find reason to give God thanks today? See the beauty in what is good, and true, and lovely. Receive God’s gifts of grace in your life, even in the smallest of ways, with thanksgiving. Know the relief of his presence, the peace of his love, and the power of his healing touch. You are not alone. He is with you, he loves you, and he is for you.
Near One, thank you for the power of your presence. Revive my heart and adjust my perspective in yours.

How familiar are you with the Spirit of God? Jesus talked about the Spirit in John 14:26, “the Counselor, the Holy Spirit… will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.” The Spirit is a gift of the Father for all who believe in Christ his Son.
You don’t have to search the world for the meaning of life. You don’t even have to get up and move from your spot right now to experience the presence of God’s Spirit. You are God’s temple, and the Spirit of God lives in you. If you have yet to know the power of God’s presence in your heart, mind, body, or life, invite him to show you. Pray and ask the Lord to reveal his presence to you right here and now. Wait on him. The Spirit moves in love, peace, joy, and grace. Look for his fruit!
Holy Spirit, I ask you to overwhelm my senses with the power of peace. Open my heart to bring greater understanding of how you work in my life.

Birth is the ultimate fresh start. With nothing but opportunity ahead, everything is promising and new. There are no faults or mistakes that hamper. Babies are like sponges, taking in the nourishment of their mothers and mimicking the movements and sounds of others.
When you are born again in Christ, he does the same thing. He covers the pain of your past and ushers you into a promising new life. You are no longer weighed down by the worries of yesterday. You are new, and you have a bright future under his care. He offers you all you need to grow and thrive. Look to the one who brought you out of despair into hope and learn from him. May you know the invigorating hope of his love today.
Jesus, I no longer look back to what could have been, but ahead to what is promised. I trust that the plans you have for me are good.

Do you ever sit back and wonder what God can do for you? On hard days, it can be difficult to get out of your own way. When all you see is a brick wall ahead with no escape, remember who God is and what he can do. Nothing is impossible for him!
Don’t let disappointment lead to despair. Though disappointment is a part of life, despair doesn’t have to be the end result. Pray to God, who heals your diseases and liberates your soul from fear. He can keep you from falling, but he can also pick you up after you’ve face-planted into the dirt. Lift your expectations from ashes to mountaintops. He cleanses your heart, relieves your worries, and brings you to where you need to be.
Yahweh, I don’t want to expect little from you. Raise my expectations, as I see the ways you have delivered me and cared for me up until now. I will raise my hopes as I pour my heart out before you.
