Hauke - a German bourgeois family known from 1670 , then the Polish and Russian noble families Hauke ​​and Hauke- Bosak , whose descendants played a major role in the nineteenth century. Original name: Hauck .    

Since the Hauks became known in the first half of the nineteenth century, attentive genealogists invented them noble ancestors from the Netherlands named van der Haacken , with a coat of arms showing three black sandal pointed blades in a golden field. Indeed, the Rietstapa herbalist mentions the van der Haack family with such a coat of arms, but these Haacks probably had no connection with the German-Polish Hauks . Hauk's original surname "Hauck" is the Frisian dialect form of the name "Hugo" and has nothing to do with the Netherlands. 

The first known ancestor of the Hauks was Johann Gaspar Hauck , who died in February 1722 in Wetzlar, and was buried there , he was a caretaker at the Supreme Court of the Holy Roman Empire . Married to Anna Barbara, unknown maiden name, who died a month after her husband in Wetzlar, he had ten children with her (the falcons of earlier generations were always characterized by extraordinary fertility and low child mortality), among whom the two sons Johann, Valentin (1698 -1722), as caretaker of the imperial court, and Ignatz Marianus Hauck (born Wetzlar 1705, died 1784, Mainz) ), the progenitor of today's Hauks , secretary of the electorate government in Mainz. Among his nine children with Maria Franciszka Riedesel (1718-1785, in connection with the famous Countess von Reden née Riedesel zu Eisenbach), the illegitimate (later recognized) daughter of Baron George Riedesel zu Eisenbach of the old Herman nobility, especially the children: the eldest Johann Friedrich Michael (born Mainz 1737, died Warsaw 1810), better known as Friedrich Karl Hauke , as he wrote from 1782 , professor at the Warsaw Lyceum , Petrus Anton (1742-1780), Canon of the Cathedral in Mainz and Augustus Johannes Nepomuc (born 1748, Mainz, died 1822, Aschaffenburg ), like father, government secretary of the Elector of Mainz .
