Hirsch (Hirsz). - Shield blue - red divided, on top a growing, silver deer; Helmet decoration: a stag that grows in the same way between a red and a blue wing. Branch: Pomoyski .

Hirsz's personal surname is of German origin. The German deer means stag. The personal name of Hirsz (Hirsch) was first mentioned in 1265.               

Neuman in the form of Hira . Neuman explains his name as a nickname for a hunter, a people also as a nickname for the careless man. The family name Hirsz (Hirsch) is mentioned among the nicknames of the Pomeranian nobility. The first and last name was Niclos Hirsz, who was mentioned as early as 1483. According to other researchers, the name Hirsz was already known in Pomerania in 1390. The Hirsz and Hirsch families were related to the Pomyjskis of the Jeleer coat of arms.                    

The nobility with the proper name Hirsz, Hirsch were princely hunters, forest owners and hunting organizers. She organized the hunt and also looked after the forests of the German emperors. She has received numerous earthly grants for her good service. The first scholarships date from 1438. In 1575 Prince Barnim gave them land in Pomysko and Ząbinowice .        

The Hirsz (Hirsch) family used the Pomiski coat of arms . In addition to the Hirsz and Hirsch families , this coat of arms was used by the Pomejski , Pomiski and Pomoski families - a total of 6 families in Poland. The coat of arms of Pomiski shows a brown stag running out of a blue and white chess board. The blue squares represent rivers, lakes, fields and forests. The deer is an animal that has strength, power and leadership skills, it controls the herd. The coat of arms dates from 1390.             

According to the list of surnames occurring in Poland, the surname Hrisz (deer ) can be found near Bielsko Biała , Gorzów, in Lower Silesia, Mazowsze and Kujawy .     

However, most of the people with this name can be found in Pomerania, especially Kashubia.
