Kate nodded at a nearby security guard and confidently made her way towards the front desk.  She had seen an advertisement for an audition to star in a music video for a new, aspiring, local rap star.  Her boyfriend had joked that there was no way she'd get the part but she made sure to give him a nice hard smack.

Her boyfriend, Jake, was sitting outside in the heat, dozing off in his old beat up pickup truck.  She had asked him to join and wait for her in the lobby but he had declined.  He had a healthy dislike for rappers.

"May I help you?"  The lady at the front desk asked.

"I'm here to audition for Les Mo HD," Kate replied.

"Les Mo HD?  Is that a company?"  The lady asked.

"Uh... yes, he's a rapper looking to make a music video.  How about Sean Tombs?  He's the agent I spoke with," Kate answered.

"Sean Tombs... Sean Tombs..."  The lady repeated as she typed into her computer.

"Is that T, O, M, B, S?"  She asked, spelling out his name.

"Uh... yes.  I have his business card.  Hold on," Kate answered as she dug through her purse.

She found the business card and pulled it out.  She looked at the name and nodded, then handed it to the lady.

"Oh... Rose Entertainment.  You'll have to make your way to the tenth floor.  It's to your left once you exit.  At the end of the hall."  She informed as she handed back the card.

Kate sensed a strange sense of disgust coming from her.  She looked at her and debated asking.

"If I were you, I'd just ignore the audition," she said.

"Excuse me?  What, you don't think I have all the right curves?"  Kate replied angrily as she grabbed the card and walked off.

The lady tried to say something but Kate ignored her and slammed the palm of her hand on the button for the elevator.  The doors to her left opened and she hopped in.  Her face was red with anger as she pressed down the key for the tenth floor.  The elevator lumbered upwards, old, boring music blaring on its static filled stereos.

“Tired of people thinking I can’t do something,” Kate muttered to herself.

She straightened her button down shirt and her short black skirt.  It was going to be her time to shine, for her to prove everyone else wrong.  As the elevator reached the tenth floor, it slowed down and eventually bounced, ever so gently as it came to a stop.  The doors slowly opened and Kate stepped out.

There was a large, glass made sign with the words ‘Rose Enterprises’ on it.  A small red colored rose was to the side; the logo of the company.  It was an extremely empty floor with white floors.  She walked to the left and headed down the long hall.  At the end of the hall was a door with another rose logo on it.

“Man, this place is empty...”  Kate whispered.

She reached the door and paused.  Kate leaned in against the door, trying to see if she could hear if anyone was in the room.  Her heart sank a bit as she couldn’t hear any signs of life.  She slowly opened the door and peeked her head in.

“Hello?”  She called out as she opened the door fully.

She was only met with silence.  Kate stepped in and looked around; it did look like an office.  There was a small desk, a couch and another door that seemed to lead to another smaller office.  The door to the other office opened and a bald black man peeked out.

“Oh, hi,” he said as he stepped out and straightened his tie.

He rubbed his hands together and smiled as he approached her.

“I’m Sean Tombs, you must be... Kate?”  Sean introduced.

“Yeah, you met me a week ago.  And you gave me your card and said I should swing by today,” Kate replied.

She found it strange that he couldn’t remember her, but at the same time, she figured he must have met several, several women.  It was, after all, his job to recruit women to audition for his clients.

“Ah!  Yes!  At Club Maxx.  Of course I remember you.  You were in that bomb ass red dress,” Sean answered.

Kate smiled, he was right, she was wearing her tight fitting red cocktail dress.  She shook his hand and he walked her over to the couch.  He sat on a single person leather sofa and pointed at the couch across from him, signaling for her to sit.

“So, how have you been?”  Sean asked.

“Great!  I’ve been really looking forward to this,” Kate replied excitedly.
