Chapter 01: The Secret Alliances of The Knights Templar.
Many of the current secret societies started in countries were the Templars went underground, protected by their kings, such as Scotland, Portugal and, later, due to a crisis in the crown of Portugal, also Spain — through what would be known as the Iberian Union, and which, ironically, brought forward the decline of Portugal from that moment onward.
The Portuguese would resent the spaniards until modern times over what occurred between the two territories in the past. And this, while up north, Great Britain was formed, taking advantage of the conflicts, to steal the lands once in possession of the two nations — the first true Global Empire.
History is always written by the winners, but nobody can deny the fact — proved again and again, through many historical events — that the British are nothing more than thieves, mass murderers and pirates. And could they have done things differently?
World maps and an immense technology on navigation — learned from the Arabs and Vikings, and brought to Portugal by the Knights Templar — as well as the monetary investments needed to put ambitious ideas into practice, had been already formed and tightly controlled. And the power of the Knights Templar was, at the time, in Portugal, which was, as well, their first nation. Portugal was destined to become the birthplace of their Global Empire.
The Portuguese are still unaware of the fact that their first King, D. Afonso Henriques, was not only the son of a Knight Templar but also a Knight Templar himself, trained by the Templars in the art of war and helped by the Templars to take the land — once known as Condado Portucalense — from the King of Spain, to make it the first and true Templar Nation. But why did the Templars choose this location among so many?
As documents of the period indicate, the original name of this land was Portugalia, i.e., the location from where the ships sale. The Templars were already prepared to shift their trading port from Venice to Portugalia, because they wanted to expand their riches and not remain constrained to the commerce in the mediterranean, which was becoming highly competitive and not as profitable anymore.
The only option for the British was to turn to piracy. But not only because the British lacked the resources and funds to pursue the same ends. Also because Portugal and Britain had formed an alliance in 1386 — The Treaty of Windsor — in which the two territories promised to help each other in times of war. They had formal obligations to help each other and not compete for the same resources.
This alliance served the Portuguese royal house countless times during the attempts of the Spaniards to conquer Portugal, but also during the Iberian Union, to break the two nations apart, in favor of the rebellious Portuguese faction who sough refuge and help in England. England would spearhead the Anglo-Spanish war on the side of the deposed Portuguese Royal House.
The reason for this strong alliance is self-evident in what was mentioned before. For both nations hided the descendants of the Knights Templar. And it is also for this same reason that, despite the fact that the treaty was only signed in 1386, the alliance had already been informally assumed since 1147.
In 1147, during the Siege of Lisbon, English and other northern European crusaders – en route to the Holy Land — stopped and helped the first Portuguese Kind — D. Afonso Henriques — conquer the city from the Moors. They were helping a companion of the army of the Templars in the same crusade.
The purpose of the Templars in Portugal was primordially to obtain the section of the European land in the hands of the Moors, and not only keep the territory independent from Spain.
The complete dependency and obedience of the Kings of Spain towards the Pope, made them a threat to the Knights Templar, as they could’t trust the Spanish Monarchs.
It is, however, ironic, that the Portuguese were eventually responsible for saving the Spanish Monarchy many decades later, when hiding their royal family in Estoril during the second world war. Or where they actually helping their own descendants?
