The Adventure

Start

Jake was getting ready for Halloween. He came down the stairs and waited for his friend, Mike (he called him Mikey). His twin sister, Jacklyn, was wearing her witch costume. Mike and Jake were planning to dress up as pirates, and Jake’s was complete with the eye-patch and peg leg. It even had a red and orange vest, with a white shirt inside. There was even a beard! Jackie’s costume had a cone hat and a long purple robe. She had a glittering purple dress and a dark black wig. She also had a wand and a spellbook. Jake walked to the sofa and slumped down on it.

The second he did that, though, the bell rang. Jake shot up and rushed to the door and saw Mike standing there. He had a long purple beard, with a blue-and-green vest with a similar white shirt on the inside. He had a fake parrot perched on his shoulder.

“Finally you’re here!” Jake exclaimed, “What took you so long?”

“Well, my eye patch got lost, so we had to look for it, and then we had car trouble, soooooooooo, yeah,” he replied.

“Well, then,” Jake said, “Let’s go trick or treating!” They stepped outside and started to go house to house.

Outside, there were lots of people roaming around. There was a huge variety of costumes. There were ladybugs, zombies, unicorns, ghosts, and lots more. They moved to the next house to start trick-or-treating. After about ten houses, they ran into the school bully, Jonah.

“Oh, boy,” Mike said, “here comes Jonah.” They all rolled their eyes. Jonah was a fifth-grader like them, but for some reason, he got an idea in his head that he was the king of the school.
