SUMMARY

PARIS AND THE MISSING PAINTINGS

On Tuesday 20 December, as he does every year, the American playwright Gaspard Coutances arrived at Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport to spend a month in isolation in a Parisian flat writing his new play.

Madeline Greene, a former London policewoman, arrived at the Gare du Nord by Eurostar and rented a holiday home to rebuild her life after a suicide attempt, to regain her strength and to be able to undergo the in vitro fertilisation process she has decided to undertake. For her, the procedure is the last chance she has to have a child.

Due to a computer error, Madeline and Gaspard are forced to share the same house: the studio of Sean Lorenz, a former New York graffiti artist who became a famous painter and is now dead.
