Bugatti Centodiece

To celebrate his 36th birthday, Cristiano Ronaldo has purchased this super rare, €8 million Bugatti Centodieci - a car that can go from 0-100 km/h in 2.4 seconds.

The Bugatti Centodieci (Italian for "110") is a limited production mid-engine sports car produced by French automotive manufacturer Bugatti. The car is an homage to the Bugatti EB110 and a celebration of the Bugatti marque's 110th birthday.

The Centodieci is 20 kg lighter than the Bugatti Chiron, and has a 8,000 cc (8.0 L; 488.2 cu in) quad-turbocharged W16 engine, rated at 1,176 kW (1,600 PS; 1,578 hp) at 7,000 rpm. Production of the Centodieci will be limited to 10 units priced at 8 million euros (~$8.9 million) each.

Tom Collins

 The Tom Collins is arguably the most recognizable example of the Collins family of drinks. Generally speaking, a Collins simply means a sour cocktail (those involving a spirit mixed with sugar and citrus) served in a tall glass over ice, and topped with soda water. Or, essentially, a spiked sparkling lemonade.

There’s some debate as to the origin of the Tom Collins. According to drinks historian David Wondrich, the drink is probably derived from the gin punches that gained popularity during the early 19th century. A common story is that an enterprising barkeep who worked for Limmer's Hotel in Lodon, John Collins, named the concoction after himself.

However, it's arguable whether Collins actually invented the combination of ingredients, or just helped to bring it to the masses. Regardless, these early iterations of the cocktail were typically made with either genever or Old Tom gin, resulting in the cocktail eventually becoming known as a Tom Collins rather than John Collins.

Ingredients of Tom Collins

2 ounces London dry gin

1 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed

1/2 ounce simple syrup

Club soda, to top

Garnish: lemon wheel or maraschino cherry

How to make it

– Add all the ingredients to a large, tall glass full of ice.

– Stir and top off with chilled soda water

Tom Collins variation

A known variation is a Jock Collins or Sandy Collins. In this recipe, Scotch whisky replaces gin.

If you have ever been to Ft. Walton beach back in the late eighties, early nineties, you know exactly what I mean. How it used to be that great little panhandle beach with very few Spring breakers. Sadly enough though we watched as our little sanctuary slipped into the hands of the mighty hordes.

Even after the Spring breakers discovered our little piece of paradise, we continued to go. It was our place; we had too many memories to give it up. We finally conceded though that, if we were going to keep it our little spot, we had to live with it. And as it turns out they really weren't all that rowdy, at least not rowdy enough to run us off.

Last year however broke the mold in so very many ways. We first found ourselves literally surrounded by Spring breakers, again not unusual for late March, but this particular year we found ourselves a literal magnet for many of the college hellions.

It took them very little time to discover that we were both educators at a community college in our hometown of Columbus, Ohio. And, as it turned out, that seemed to be the source of the magnetism attracting them to us.
