Restoring Spiritual Principles

I want to start this book by sharing some things that God is restoring in this hour. We are about to see some great things.

Job 29:4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;

This is by no means a full study on the Person of the Holy Spirit. It is just an appetizer to wet your appetite for intimacy with Him. The Word of God is time spent with Him, and time spent with God chasers who know and love Him will grow you in the knowledge of our Precious Spirit of God.

I have prepared this especially for those who have already asked Jesus into their hearts as personal Lord and Savior, believing that God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life. But my heart is that you do know Jesus if you haven’t yet surrendered your life to Him, because once you do, Jesus has a gift waiting for you the precious Holy Spirit!

He will teach, counsel, lead, guide and love on you as no other and He will draw you into His radical fiery love. As you grow in intimacy, mature in the Word, you will come to experience Him and the Holy Spirit will reveal Jesus to your heart, the heart of the Father for the Son and the Son for the Father and their affection for you.

You do know that God loves you, right?

Now, more than ever before Jesus said in Luke chapter 12 that it is the Father’s desire to give His children the Kingdom. If that was true then, how could it be different today?

Actually, we should probably be moving in even greater levels of intimacy with the Father as we see the urgent need for demonstrations of the power of God so much more.

I have designed this Chapter to encourage you to intimacy, and to encourage you to seek to deepen your own personal relationship with God’s Radiant Glory. As you pursue friendship and spend time with Him, you will be able to recognize His presence, His voice, His instruction and will experience an increase in the release of Holy Spirit power and boldness in testifying of God’s love and in ministering the gift and grace of salvation and healing to others.

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

I believe that the Holy Spirit is urging us to believe and trust God for a deeper relationship than ever before that will see us pressing in and ahead in love with God to release the power of the Kingdom in the earth!

Growing in love with God by His Spirit is the most precious, exciting, refreshing and exhilarating experience that I have ever known apart from the first blush love experience of salvation. Whoa, thank You Precious Lord!

If this Chapter compels you to dive deeper into the waters of grace through relationship and communion with the very Spirit of God and experience all that, praise God! If because of that intimacy, you do experience a greater release of the power of God in your life and in ministry to others, Praise God and Amen!

He is my Best Friend and the Love of My Life and it is an honor to introduce Him to you as an intimate friend. Your friendship with Him may look a little different from mine, but trust that He will meet your heart’s yearnings in ways you cannot imagine and He will never disappoint you. Treat Him well; be kind and gentle and generous with your time. He is so precious.

How would you describe your Christian life? Are you satisfied with it, or do you hunger for more in your relationship with God?

Chances are if you have experienced the Person of the Holy Spirit, you will want more because each encounter only scrapes the surface of what we can encounter in the glory of God, no matter how much the Holy Spirit saturates us with His presence. Even more than you desire His presence, His heart yearns to commune with you and cries out, “Don’t go away, don’t be satisfied without My presence!”

2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. The second epistle to the Corinthians was written from Philippi, a city of Macedonia, by Titus and Lucas.

That’s precisely the key to an increasingly satisfying Spirit-filled life, a life hungry and desperate for encounters with an intimate knowledge of the Holy Spirit.

1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

The three that bear record in heaven are not three Gods, but three in One, and each are an expression of God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. To know God is to know there are three Persons in the Godhead. To know God is to know the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. To know God is to understand that God is three Personalities and in order to grasp His fullness, we have to have intimacy and communion and relate to each one. Though they are the same in unity and purpose and do everything in oneness, they are still three Persons. As Christians, we seek to know God the Father and God the Son, but in seeking the Holy Spirit, we tend to seek only the power and infilling He offers and provides and not the relationship.

Through our time getting to know the Father, we learn through the Son, that He is not a God in heaven with a gavel hammering down judgment.

Instead, we learn more of His character and come to know Him as Abba Daddy Father. We can come to know the Father even more intimately by coming to know the character and Person of the Holy Spirit as well.

The Holy Spirit is no less significant than the Father or Jesus, He is equal to them and we must know the fullness of the Holy Spirit as fully as we know the Father and Jesus. One does nothing apart from the other.

All three Persons of the Godhead were involved in our creation.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

This infers that it wasn’t just the Father. If “God” said, then the Holy Spirit, the Father and Jesus all decided at the same time, in effect, “Hey! Let’s make man in Our image.”

Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Again, it is one God, but three Persons. It’s “Us.”

Genesis 11:7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

It is teamwork. They were a team from the very beginning and they are a team in our salvation.

To explain, let me paraphrase what happened. The Father demanded payment for sin and Jesus said, “I’ll pay for it” and the Holy Ghost said, “Not without me.”

In effect, the Father said, “I miss the fellowship that I had with Adam and Eve. I miss being able to go down and walk in the cool of the day with them. I miss the intimacy and the glory that we shared. Do you know what? Now I am angry and My holy wrath demands justice on sin because the wages of sin is death. I need something to take the payment and the atonement for these people that I so desire to commune with. I have to have justice even at the same time I desire fellowship. But if I were to go to fellowship with them now, My fire would consume them.”

Then Jesus all of a sudden stands and says, “Father, I’ll go. Because I love You, Father and because I see the aching of Your heart for Your people. Father, I will go to the earth. I will suffer, die and become the atonement for all those so that they can be restored into the likeness and the image of Us and have that intimacy with You that You miss.”

But the Holy Spirit interjects and says, “You’re not going Jesus, unless I go too.”

So the “Us” team have a conference and make the decision together to restore fellowship and bring us back to the place where we could taste of their glory. And this same Person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit who worked alongside the Father and Jesus in creating you, invites you to know Him beyond knowing His power. I will ask the Father and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth. You know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.

Life is so full and busy for all of us, but the call of God toward intimacy also increases. Nothing trumps an intimate love relationship with God! He is jealous, yes, jealous for your affection and does not want contenders for your heart!

I challenge you to identify the contenders that fight for your affection, those little foxes that busy you away from God and think of, even list on a piece of paper so that you won’t forget,  ways to construct your life to accommodate a passionate pursuit of fellowship with Him!

Those who know His name will lean on and confidently put their trust in Him. The Lord will not forsake those who seek Him!

Psalms 42:1 To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

Job 29:4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;

The Spirit speaks (Acts 8:29; 10:19; 11:12; 21:11; 1 Tim. 4:1; Heb. 3:7).

The Spirit may be spoken to, tested, grieved, insulted, or blasphemed (Acts 5:3, 9; Eph. 4:30; Heb. 10:29;

Matt. 12:31).

The Spirit sometimes uses the personal pronoun “I”,

Acts 10:20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

The Spirit lives,

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

The Spirit guides, calls, commissions, and intercedes,

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

Acts 20:8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

Do you desire more of the satisfying life?

John 7:37, 38 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

John explains Jesus’ words further in verse 39 and tells us that by this (rivers of living water), Jesus meant “the Spirit.”

The Holy Spirit is the source of our deepest satisfaction. He quenches our thirst. The Spirit lives!

God gave us His Spirit so that we can experience intimacy with Him now.

John 16:13-15 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

How wonderful it would be to walk with the Savior in the flesh as the disciples did.

Imagine three and a half years of close friendship with Jesus. They ate, slept, traveled, studied and ministered with the Man Jesus.

Side-by-side with the Redeemer, they witnessed Him feed the five thousand, raise the dead, and with sometimes just a word, heal the sick and cast out demons.

John 16:5-7 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

What is an advantage?

It is plus and gain, improvement, help, benefit.

What was that advantage?

It was the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit.

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

The disciples, as they walked with Jesus did not have the “advantage” that we have.

They did not yet have the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit. They walked with this Man of flesh, as they walked with their brothers, sisters, or friends. Their hearts were not yet made the spiritual temples God created to enter into. The Holy Spirit had not yet come to fill them. They likely could not feel the glory (with the exception of the Mount of Transfiguration experience), as we do.

It is clear that Jesus says the Holy Spirit is inside of Him, but that He is also in addition to Him. The Holy Spirit is One just like Jesus and will do in Jesus’ absence what Jesus would do if He were physically with us.

The Holy Ghost is the Greatest Evangelist. He is a helper. He is One who is called alongside. He is Intercessor, Comforter, Helper, Advocate, and Counselor.

He is the One who counsels what to do, when to do it, how to do it, whom to pray for, how to pray for and He provides words of knowledge and accurate details.

2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. The second epistle to the Corinthians was written from Philippi, a city of Macedonia, by Titus and Lucas.

In the final words of Second Corinthians chapter 13, Paul wants us to know three things:

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion (fellowship) of the Spirit.”

Grace, love, communion!

What Paul was saying was “May you have a revelation of the grace of Jesus, the love of God (talking about the Father) and not just revelation of the Holy Spirit, but communion and fellowship with the Holy Spirit.”

For Paul to say what he said, he had to have known the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

He was talking about something beyond operating in the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

The passage did not say the communion of the Father, or of Jesus, but of the Holy Spirit “May the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

The word “communion” here is referred to in the Greek text as koininia. Communion in this context means unity, a close association, fellowship, close bond, or a partnership.

The underlying message is sharing.

Therefore, Paul was saying then, “May you experience and share the intimate bond, the closeness, the unity, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.”

Paul infers there is something a whole lot deeper to the Holy Ghost and to the anointing and the gifts of the Spirit.

He is saying that we can know koininia with Him and alongside of Him.

Koinonia is the anglicisation of a Greek word (κοινωνία) that means communion by intimate participation.

I have koininia relationship with the Holy Spirit. I chat with Him constantly.

We have a bond so close, I cannot even describe it. We share, talk, ask questions of each other and communicate openly.

I ask Him questions and He gives me answers and vice-versa.

There is freedom in our fellowship.

He is like a close buddy and confidante and accompanies me everywhere.

I keep in step with Him.

Galatians 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

I do not have to wait for Him to come upon me, or manifest in some way, I just know He is there.

In the beginning of the revival in Litchfield I began to understand that there was something that I did not have and that was deeper intimacy with the Lord.

I did not know the Holy Spirit beyond the gifting or teachings I had received.

I knew His work and His presence, but I did not know His character.

I spent months diving into every Scripture verse I could find and studied Him in depth.

It created a hunger in me to know Him as close as a brother knows a brother, as a husband knows a wife and I pursued Him with every ounce of strength I possessed.

There, I would lift my hands and cry out to Him, “Holy Spirit come please, I want to know You. I am not satisfied only with Your power. I want to know You more than to operate in the gifts.”

Wham, I would be under the power vibrating as though somebody had plugged me into an electrical circuit.

I would weep, vibrate, shake and the charged atmosphere afterward lingered.

I could not wait to get home every day because the Holy Spirit would be there waiting for me.

I was so excited about this relationship, new intimacy and closeness.

Relationship with the Holy Spirit was beyond anything I had encountered, beyond the anointing and the moving in the gifts.

As soon as I would open the door to my room, it was as though the Holy Spirit was sitting there like a kid at Christmas waiting for me to get home from work so we could spend time together in His presence.

Ecclesiastes 5:1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

Knowing who He is requires spending time in His presence and getting to know Him on an intimate level.

It is not at all unlike living with a person, such as a wife, husband, or sibling.

It is a partnership and a fellowship; we confide, make decisions, encourage, and champion each other!

We eat, sleep, talk and have fun together; such is my relationship with the Holy Spirit, my precious Friend.

He does not have to tell me when He’s grieved, or touched, I feel and sense it.

I encourage Him and champion Him, “I love You, and honor You, Holy Spirit, I love the way Your Presence feels, I love to hear Your voice, I love to wake up in the morning and feel You flow through my body like electricity, I love that!”

I would talk to the Holy Spirit and say, “We’re going to have another revival meeting, Holy Spirit, isn’t that awesome? I cannot wait to present the Gospel with You. It’s You and I, Holy Ghost and we’re going to bring signs and wonders to the people!”

I often include the Holy Spirit in my Bible time.

I just say, “Holy Spirit, look at this verse, look what Jesus did and You were right there! The blind man’s eyes opened, wow.” This was koininia time.

Yes, God is with us always, but the manifest presence of God is Whom we seek in intimacy.

Fellowship and partnership with the Holy Spirit is heaven touching earth in the natural plain of our lives.

A “With You” Presence,
