The Quran, holy Book of Islam, is a collection of the revelations that angel Gabriel dictated word for word, rather letter for letter, under Divine Will to Prophet Muhammad (Mohammed) around the year 610 CE. The first revelation occurred in the so called Night of Decree ( Sūrah 97), the most important moment during the fasting of Ramadan. The Islamic tradition tries to conciliate the idea of the Quran being revealed in only one night (Sūrah 97, 1: “Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree”). It is said that it was revealed in one night but God decided to repeat it in further revelations (from 612 to 630).
