It was Thursday night. As I walked into church wearing a white shirt, and white skirt, and saw the church decked out in cloud white, I suddenly forgot all about Morgan, Jason, and everything else in my life. I was just ready to praise God, as tonight, Jesus, his son, shared the last supper with his disciples, and washed their feet. As the first and second readings went by, I stood up for the Gospel. As Father was speaking, my mind went off into a different world. I thought of what Morgan was going to do next to me, and what Jason thought of me leaving the church on Palm Sunday. I told myself:
“Sydney, Morgan has done almost all the bad things she can do to you. You are strong, and you can get through it all.”
I then jerked myself out of my thoughts, to sit down, as Father started the Homily.
“Young People in Christ, today is Holy Thursday. We heard in the Gospel tonight, that Jesus Christ shared the last supper with his disciples. And he washed their feet. Now, I want to focus on Faith, Trust, and Hope tonight. Do we remember Judas Iscariot? He was the one that was going to betray Christ tomorrow, for 30 silver coins. He had not only lost faith in Christ, as it said that the devil had induced him, but Judas DID still have hope. He did have Christ. But he decided to listen to the devil. Jesus trusted that his disciples to do good things. And when we read later in the Gospel, when the devil had left Judas, Judas went back to the Chief Priests and said:
“I have sinned by betraying innocent blood. But they said, What is that to us? See to that yourself!” And then, Judas hung himself in shame. Followers of Christ, tomorrow, Jesus is crucified to the wood of the cross, are we ready to stick with him until he breathes his last?”
When I went back to my dorm I took a shower. When I got out I saw Lauren was sitting down, doing her homework. I asked her: “Tomorrow we don’t have school, so, what would you like to do?”
“I’m not sure, what would you like to do?”
“Well, I am going to church, but I thought maybe we could do our nails or something! Maybe catch up on some Mike and Molly.”
“It’s whatever you want to do Sydney!”
“Whatever I want to do Lauren? Oh, I have a great idea!” I smiled to myself. Lauren was going to have the best day of her life tomorrow!
Chapter 2, Lauren's Day
“Hey Lauren, are you ready for the best day in the world”?
“Yeah, its going to be the best day ever!!! What are you planning for us miss Towers?”
“Well, I was thinking, we could get our nails done, have a facial makeover, and get cherry lip gloss!!! It’s your fav!”
“I love that idea! Maybe we can also go to the store, and go shopping!”
“Yeah, I would love to do that!”
“Okay, I hope that we can do that too.”
“Well, where would you like to go shopping?”
“Whatever works for you Syd!”
“Alright! Sounds good!” Lauren responded excitedly.
I then thought in my mind that maybe Lauren would like to go out to lunch, but I didn’t mention it to her. I figured while Lauren was getting dressed, I could figure out where we were going. I finally decided to go shopping first.
“Hey Sydney, are you ready to head out?”
“Yep, all ready! I thought if you’re ok with it, we could go shopping first.”
“Sounds good! Let’s go!”
When we arrived at the store, I followed Lauren into the makeup section of the store. After about 30 minutes of squirting perfume, smelling lip gloss, getting our facials, and trying out nail polishes, we found each other, and shared what we had got.
“So, what did you end up getting Laur?” I asked her.
“Well, I got watermelon lip gloss, vanilla scented spray, and black nail polish with a hint of sparkle! How about you?”
“I got sunshine lip gloss, cherry scented spray, and yellow nail polish.”
“Those sound wonderful Sydney! Lets go pay for this stuff, and figure where we are going to next!”
