Master's Thesis from the year 2024 in the subject Cosmetology, grade: First, University of Rome "Tor Vergata", course: Master Degree, language: English, abstract: Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that predominantly affects the face, influencing both the aesthetic appearance and the psychological and social well-being of patients. This thesis aims to explore the management strategies of rosacea with an integrated approach, combining the use of functional cosmetic ingredients and formulation innovations. In the first part of this work, there is an analysis about the rosacea’s disease, including its social implications, the main clinical symptoms and triggers. Subsequently, the strategies for managing rosacea are reviewed through an integration of medical therapy with cosmetic therapy and therefore an analysis of cleansers and moisturizing preparations suitable for restoring and protecting the skin barrier. Furthermore, the role of functional ingredients such as niacinamide, ceramides, avenanthramides and botanical extracts is highlighted, thanks to their contribution in soothing inflammation and reducing redness. There is also a focus about the use of corrective make-up and camouflage techniques based on color theory. The overall goal is to provide an updated framework that integrates dermatological knowledge with cosmetic applications, offering targeted solutions to improve the quality of life of rosacea patients.
