Chapter 1: The Accident
The rain was pouring down as Finlay Donovan drove home from work. She was exhausted and stressed out. She had just had a terrible day at her job, and she was dreading the long drive home.
As she was driving, she saw a car in front of her start to veer off the road. The driver must have lost control, because the car spun out of control and rolled over into a ditch.
Finlay slammed on her brakes and pulled over to the side of the road. She got out of her car and ran over to the accident scene.
The car was a complete wreck. The driver was unconscious and bleeding from the head.
Finlay took out her phone and called 911. She then started to give the operator first aid instructions.
A few minutes later, the paramedics arrived and took the driver to the hospital.
Finlay was shaken up by the accident, but she was glad that she had been able to help. She got back in her car and continued driving home.
As she was driving, she started to think about the accident. She wondered what had caused the driver to lose control.
She shook her head and tried to put the accident out of her mind. She had to focus on getting home and putting her kids to bed.
She finally arrived home at around 8:00 PM. She was relieved to see that her kids were already asleep.
She put them to bed and then went to bed herself. She was so tired that she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
She woke up the next morning feeling refreshed. She got out of bed and went to the kitchen to make breakfast.
As she was making breakfast, she saw a news report about the car accident. The reporter said that the driver had died of his injuries.
Finlay was shocked. She had never seen the driver before, but she felt terrible for his family.
She finished making breakfast and then ate it with her kids. They chatted about their day at school.
After breakfast, Finlay got ready for work. She said goodbye to her kids and then drove to her office.
As she was driving, she saw a police car with its lights flashing. She pulled over to the side of the road to let it pass.
The police car stopped next to her car. A police officer got out of the car and walked over to her.
"Ms. Donovan?" the officer asked.
"Yes, that's me," Finlay replied.
"I'm Officer Murphy," the officer said. "I'm here to talk to you about the car accident last night."
