Great Mosika, the bear, gifted the old house he had lived in as a youngster to his two grandchildren, Sika and Mokka, when they reached twelve years of age. The two very close brothers were so happy with their grandfather’s gift, as it would allow them to fulfil their dream of living together in a house of their own; a house they could play in together, eat in together, go out from together to have a walk or to fish; a house from which to watch the sunset, that their grandfather had taught them to observe and love, and which they were already used to the ritual of watching every day.
Sika and Mokka were excited to see the house their grandfather had always mentioned when he recounted his memories of the past. The following day at first light, they carried their luggage and began their journey to it.
They followed the directions their grandfather had given them and crossed the woods at the end of which lay the house, near a stream that poured into a vast lake. As they travelled on, they recalled some of the stories their grandfather had recounted about his youth in that house, aspiring for a life as happy as his in that same home.
During their journey the brothers met Ferora the zebra, one of their grandfather’s friends, known for his serenity and wisdom. Ferora congratulated them on the new house and promised to pay them a visit soon to check on how they were doing, since he was their neighbour.
