A new house surrounded by greenery and ovelooking the Atlantic Ocean: thus begins the adventure of little Gemma, who, only by opening the entrance door, realizes that the house is already inhabited by “something”. The contact with creatures hidden from the eyes of most people will forever change the girl’s way of seeing the world. This story tells of how a great and wonderful adventure can begin from small and simple daily gestures.

It’s mid-June, and a wonderful day began. This will be an important week because I will change house. Mom chose this period of the year because I am on holiday. I just finished my fourth grade with very good results, just for knowing.
We will remain within the same village, but we will move from a flat to a single house.
I will finally have my own garden, and for my birthday I will receive a kitten. Mom said that with a larger house and a real garden we can take a little pet. Each time I pushed for having one, she always said that pets are not toys, they need attention, care, and the right place to live. I always understoon these words because, for me, living in a flat is like living in a cage. However, what matters is that now I can have a kitten. I have already thought about its name: Windy for a female and Cloud for a male, and I’d like it to be fully white or fully black. We will see!
Mom works in a little herbalist’s shop, but for this week she took a vacation because of the moving and left the shop to Lucy, her employee. I really like her! She always brings me toffes. She is kind and beautiful like a fairy, she has long and blond hair and blue eyes. She often comes to our house for a tea and we always play with toffes: we put them on the table and we create funny shapes before eating them all. Lucy is part of the family, I call her “aunt Lucy” and I really love her. I’ve always lived alone with my mum and I’ve never met my father because he left before my birth. It was because of his job; success and money were more important. What I understood is that people have to stay together only if they really love each other; otherwise it’s better every man for himself.
