Introducing The Bazaar of Bad Dreams

THE BAZAAR OF BAD DREAMSBY STEPHEN KING IS A SERIES of short stories written from 2009 to 2015. The first short story is “Mile 81,” which takes place in Maine at a rest area. Pete, a young boy, goes to the rest area and drinks too much. Suddenly, a station wagon arrives, opens its door, but no one gets out. Doug, another driver, goes to help the station wagon. The station wagon eats Doug. This continues with other drivers until Pete stops everything by burning the station wagon using a magnifying glass.

“Premium Harmony” follows a couple, Ray and Mary, who often argue. Mary goes to the store, while Ray and the dog wait in the car. Mary has a heart attack and dies while she is in the store. When he hears the news, Ray flirts with a saleswoman in the store. The dog also dies because Ray forgot him in the hot car. Ray finds it humorous that his dog and wife died on the same day. He expresses his excitement at being able to do whatever he wants.

In “Batman and Robin Have an Altercation,” Sanderson goes to visit his father who has Alzheimer's. While they are out to eat, Sanderson's father recalls one Halloween when he and Sanderson dressed up like Batman and Robin. On the way home, Sanderson is in a car accident. The driver refuses to present his insurance and beats Sanderson. Sanderson's father unexpectedly realizes what is happening and kills the driver.
