Jonny the car looked at himself in the shop window. How handsome he was! And what speed – he could beat even race cars!

Jonny de auto keek naar zichzelf in de winkelruit. Wat was hij knap! En wat een snelheid – hij kon zelfs raceauto’s verslaan!

“I’m the pride of the neighborhood,” he yelled.

“Ik ben de trots van de buurt,” riep hij.

Just then, two braking sounds broke his daydream.

Op dat moment verstoorden twee remgeluiden zijn dagdroom.

There were his friends: Mike the bike and Scott the scooter.

Daar stonden zijn vrienden: Mike de fiets en Scott de step.

“Hey Jonny!” his friends said. “What’s up?”

“Hé, Jonny!” zei zijn vriend. “Alles goed?”

“Feeling like a little race today,” said Jonny, puffing his tires. “But there’s no one I can race with.”

“Ik heb zin in een race vandaag,” zei Jonny, terwijl hij zijn banden oppompte. “Maar ik heb niemand om tegen te racen.”

“We can race with you!” said Mike with excitement.

“Wij kunnen met je racen!” zei Mike opgewonden.
