My Granddaughter’s name is Bloom. It’s a name that’s been in her father’s family for many years.
A good friend of mine, Julia Rueger, is an accomplished dollmaker. She created a fairy doll and asked me if she could name her doll Bloom. Of course, I was thrilled. When I saw her doll, I was immediately inspired to write about her. I have pictured her here.
She is magical. So, I bought the fairy doll, Bloom, and gave her to my granddaughter, her namesake, for Christmas.
The exciting result is that I wrote this book. It is the story of Bloom, the Flower Fairy Princess of the beautiful Woods of Eire, also known as Ireland.
In this book, you will read about her wondrous adventures and the fascinating friends she meets along the way. You will meet an adorable little tree frog, a beautiful Blue Fairy Wren bird, a very scary Troll and Bloom’s Guardian Angel, a Golden Butterfly. Bloom’s powers of magic will surprise and delight you!

Bloom’s First Adventure

BLOOM MAKES A SPECIAL FRIEND

Our tale begins in early Summer on the Magical Isle of Eire, also known as the Emerald Isle of Ireland. This land is covered with fragrant flowers and bright green trees. Everywhere you look, it’s GREEN! Like a clear green Emerald and just as twinkling and captivating. Eire is one of the loveliest places on Earth!

On Eire, there resides a delightful Kingdom of Flower Fairies. No one knows how old and ancient this lovely place is. Just that it is filled with Magic, that only a very few can see. (Will you be one of those people?)

In a hollow in the Woods of Eire, lived a beautiful young fairy. This story is about her adventures and the interesting friends she makes along the way.

Her Fairy Mama Julia named her Bloom because of her devotionto flowers. Mama Julia loved all flowers. However, her best flower friends were Zinnias, whose bright and perky personalities often made her giggle.

Bloom’s beauty and kindness were known far and wide in the Woods of Eire. Her spray of silky, yellow curls was a gift from her Mama. Her blue eyes, so wide and sparkling, drew you in. Her sense of mischief and merry making were reflectedin her freckled face.

Bloom and her Mama enjoyed flying around in the Woods of Eire. Fluttering from one flower bed to another. Breathing in the fragrantscent of the hundreds of flowers that grew there. Of course, spending extra time in the patches of breathtaking Zinnia blossoms…red, yellow, orange, and pink. So pretty!

Early one fine morning in their cozy fairy den, Mama gently awakened Bloom.
