It was the most hated day of the week, Monday. Jane Forrest Hargitai, the well-known detective in Hungary, felt the same. In spite of the bright sunshine, the detective's mood was still cloudy. Jane and her stepdaughter named Palma Hargitai were trying to go to work, but instead of moving, they were just crawling in the traffic jam. Jane hated travelling like this. She was angered by lots of cars and those drivers who were leisurely driving in the same direction.
The lamp turned green, but the line still did not move. Jane grumbled, wrinkled her eyebrows, and nervously slapped the horn with her hand. The door of the old Mercedes standing in front of them, opened, and a big man got out of the car. He angrily approached the Audi Q7. Palma immediately reached for her gun on her side. However, Jane kept calm. She just lowered the electric window with a dull faceand hung her badge. The man immediately paused, and put both his hands up. Then he slowly retreated with a confused smile on his face. He suddenly turned and started to run leaving his car behind. He jumped over the dividing hedges, and tried to cross the lanes to the other side. However, he was unlucky and hit by an ambulance sounding the siren. His body flew meters, and fell in front of a car travelling in the inner lane. Despite all efforts, the driver could not stop the vehicle and ran over him.
"Fuck" Jane whispered. “That was what I did not want to see." she lowered her forehead to the wheel, and kept her eyes closed for a few seconds.
"Was that necessary?" Palma turned her head to the left. "This was the first day in work after our holiday and, you're killing a man?"
"You haveterrible humor this early morning." Jane said as she took the radio. She reported to the station, and briefly described the situation.
