This is an analysis of a Narcissist without the psycho babble.  This is a guide as to how to identify and how to avoid.   There is no cure.  There is no fixing of a damaged ego as those owned by Narcissists who have neither empathy nor conscience.

What's a Narcissist?

BookRix GmbH & Co. KG80331 Munich

Prologue

There will not be much psycho-babble to confuse and distract.   There will not be a ream of explanations, justifications, and academic discussion.

This is a book of warning.   A book of information to help you avoid those people are easily defined as Narcissist.   You need to know who they are, what they intend to do, and how to protect yourself.

Don't think Narissists are beautiful powerful people;the majority are not.   Most are sub average in appearance, in achievements, and intelligence.   To mask their strong sense of being inferior they create a fantasy self which strides into the world to manipulate and abuse.   Being able to manipulate and abuse is their pleasure.   It makes them feel better about themselves.

To destroy your relationships, to misdirect your feelings, to get you to do or say or believe what they are promoting,  is their victory.

This book is how to identify them.   And how to avoid them.

Chapter One

The term Narcissist is bandied around.

Psychologists call it; NPD,  Narcissistic personality disorder. They define it as a pattern of abnormal behavior characterized by exaggerated feelings of self-importance, an excessive need for admiration, and a lack of understanding of others' feelings.

The behaviour the Narcissist exhibits is not seen as abnormal by the person standing in front of them.  That is the power and danger of a Narcissist.   They don't seem, at the first few encounters, to be anything other than average.

You may meet them every day and do not  appreciate their difference. That is because you don’t know their history, their purpose, and don’t suspect any kind of secret agenda.

Why should you?

They don’t seem to be acting self important, because you take them at face value. Nothing they say is so grandiose that you are impressed or have difficulty believing.

They don’t seem to want you to look up to them, nor do they appear to be particularly callous.

The average Narcissist seems to be the most average person you could meet.   And this is their power. This is how they infect your life.

If they strode across the floor as if hearing pomp and circumstance, with their nose in the air and insulted those around them you’d say, aha! There’s a Narcissist!

But they don’t.

It is only after you’ve known them for a period of time  that you see the patterns, that you perceive  how they have infected your life like a virus. Only the victims of a Narcissist know them for what they are.

To avoid being a victim you have to catch the signs early.

In The School Yard

Harriet tells Marjie that Carol said she looks like a fat dwarf. Marjie is hurt. Marjie believes Carol said what Harriet has just announced.

Marjie now dislikes Carol and unfriends her. Why? Cause Harriet said....

What if Harriet is lying? What if Carol never said a single negative thing about her?  But Marjie is a child who believes what she is told. After all, what would Harriet gain by lying?

Harriet gains the pleasure at manipulating Marjie. Destroying a friendship is a great victory for Harriet. This kind of behaviour is ‘normal’ for Harriet who needs to control those around her.

Harriet is a nothing girl.  She is not in the top half of the class, she isn't bright.   She isn't rich.  She isn't pretty. She is absolutely average, in some cases, below average.
