COURAGE AND BRILLIANT THINKING ARE BOTH RARE IN people, but the latter takes the lead according to Peter Thiel, one of the most successful entrepreneurs and a billionaire that co-founded PayPal, in his inspirational book: Zero to One. Peter Thiel’s motivation behind writing this book was his realization that the advancements in technology are slowing down due to efforts (of creating something new) leading to failure. Hence, the ultimate goal of the book is to encourage people to think differently and come up with a good idea to start a business and to further motivate them with ideas that lead to a successful startup. The book revolves around these three concepts: first, what makes a concept new, unique, and valuable; second, to be successful, businesses must “build and maintain” a monopoly; and finally, to build a team that can take the company from “zero to one.” Furthermore, Thiel states that there exist three factors that control success: first, there needs to be technological innovation for globalization to happen; second, capitalism and competition are opposite; and finally, the future can be controlled by everyone.
