Beschreibung

The following collection in 4 volumes contains just over 60 short stories, each short story is based on a biblical passage from the New Testament like a parable and is applied to our time. A short time to catch your breath, a short time perhaps to reflect, a short time perhaps to delve deeper. Although Christ used everyday life for his parables they still leave a deep impression today. They are easy to remember with a hidden important message that we discover when we think about them. I invite you to take a deeper look at them and recognise the relevance for our everyday lives today.

Accompanied alone

Darkness. Blackness. The trees dead. Not a leaf moved. Dead branches, death clung to them. The nearby hills cast great shadows on the landscape. The sun ducked behind them. Blazing red, almost black, it dipped into the line of the horizon. Mosquitos flickered in its parting light, circling each other, making buzzing sounds in the air before dissolving into nothingness.

The light went out in the houses. Eyelids fell shut. Over the cares of the day. Covered in the hardship of everyday life. Roughened feet lay motionless under torn out feathers. Stale air flowed out of the sleeping bodies. The dogs lay in the kitchen, the cold evening air creeping out of the floor, entangling itself in their fur.

Outside, two figures were walking through the evening. Their eyes were turned forward, but their thoughts were turned towards each other. They couldn't understand what had happened. From time to time, their voices became agitated, then fell back into the monotony of resignation. What was happening was unimaginable. The voices flickered once more, more violently than before. Reproaches resounded, the night covered the expressions on their faces.

Then they walked side by side in silence. Through the night. To escape the darkness. To find refuge in a building. To sit in the light of a lamp. To clear their thoughts. Speech has died out, the flow of words has dried up, the feet are just rolling along.

It was bound to happen. Don't you understand?

They walked on. A cool wind blew out of the forest and gave them new strength. The muscles in their feet contracted faster. The dry branches crackled under their feet.

What is this event you are talking about?

The sound of their voices became more familiar. They were no strangers in the big city. Everyone had noticed. The locals, travelers, guests, the rich and the beggars, even the blind and the deaf had not been unaware.

I'm the only one who didn't find out. What were your thoughts agitated about? What takes the sound of your words and adapts it to the gloomy evening atmosphere?

It was three days ago. Our hopes were pinned on him and he carried the burden of expectation.
