Today there is nothing to see except fog. So thick that you can barely see your hand in front of your face. I walk home over the bridge like I do almost every day. The river in only vaguely glimpsed, because somewhere below me. I hear the dull sound of a foghorn, which is getting further and further away from me... 
Somewhere ahead I hear a few footsteps and laughter. A couple seems to be coming towarde me. I can`t see them yet, though. The fog is just too thick. Suddenly,a loud bang. Was that a gunshot?
