About the book

There are all kinds of emergencies; accidents, weather catastrophes, losing a loved one, or resources that are suddenly no longer available. Whatever the case, there is one thing they all have in common: they pull the rug out from under our feet. What we need then, are coping tools that are quick to hand, always with us, and that work no matter where we find ourselves.

Editor Bernadette Bruckner, herself a known intuitive, holistic health-manager, has rounded up experts from different fields to cooperate in putting together a “first-aid book”. The result is this little book containing a number of self-help methods which can be memorised, “taken away” and immediately applied.

During the course of our life, we are often confronted with situations that throw us off track, where we do not know how we will cope with and endure them. When faced with these challenging circumstances, we usually resort to one of two instinctive “emergency methods”: flee or freeze! In my view, neither is truly useful – not in our private life nor in business, since they are very emo- tional responses and (may) generally harm us and our environment. This first- aid book series gives you the opportunity to discover and try out other proven methods, and to integrate the ones that work for you into your daily routine.

Years ago, Watzlawick posed the question “How real is reality?”. What we would like to and can perceive differs from what we want to “admit” is reality. Which is real and which is born of an emotional response? Many people can “feel” it when there is fear “in the air”. What if, using simple questions and methods, we could “filter out” this fear from our surroundings and, in doing so, re-train our perception? How can our inherent intuition support us in this?

For children, the most important things in an emergency are neutrality, calm and a feeling of security. Amongst other things, these can be achieved by a change in energy, and with the help of the tools described in this book.

During the course of creating this series, we asked top national and inter- national experts from different fields for their simplest emergency techniques and summarised them. Practical experience FOR practical use!
