Introduction

There are many books and teachings in book stores on how to live your life as a believer.  Most of those teach you the doctrine of the writer’s particular denomination.  That is not what this book is about.

This teaching will be about you getting to know your new Father and His love for you.  It is in the knowledge of His love that you will enjoy your new life in the spirit.  It is in the knowledge of His love you will become all He created you to be on this earth.  You will learn to live in victory and have high expectations of His works in your life.  You will discover how to hear His voice and not be deceived by other voices that put and pull you down.  You will learn how Father God wants to lavish you with gifts and blessings in this life and the one to come.

Remember you have been adopted into the family of God and all that is His is yours as a child of the Most High God.  He does not withhold any good thing from you but is delighted to please you, His child.

Lesson #1 In The Beginning You Believed

It is important to understand how it all begins.  It starts and continues by believing God and His good news for you.  Gospel means good news.  The question is what’s this gospel we believe?  We find it plainly described in Paul’s epistle to the Corinthian church.  These are gentiles that believed Paul’s gospel.

1Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

3For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.

I Corinthians 15:1-5

The Gospel, Good News, which we believe and are saved by is;

   1. Christ Jesus died

   2. He was buried

   3. He rose again

We find Paul writing to the Gentile church in Rome about this gospel and how to be saved.  He goes on to say whoever calls on the Name of the Lord, they will be saved.  It all starts by hearing the good news, the Word of God.  He says “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God” in Romans 10:17.

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:8-10, 13, 17

It is important to see what it doesn’t say.  It doesn’t say if you believe and are baptized you will be saved.  It doesn’t say if you believe and join a church you will be saved.  It doesn’t say if you believe and go to church on Sunday you will be saved.  It doesn’t say if you believe and pay tithes and offerings you will be saved.  It doesn’t say if you believe and repent you will be saved.  It doesn’t say if you believe and quit drinking and smoking you will be saved.  It doesn’t say if you believe and never curse again you will be saved.  It doesn’t say if you believe and dress a certain way you will be saved.  It says if you simply believe Christ died, was buried and rose again you will be saved.

All of those other things aren’t necessarily bad but they do not save you or keep you from being saved.  Only disbelief keeps you from being saved.  No works saves you; it is a gift from a loving God who desires you to be in His family to be saved.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

              Ephesians 2:4-9

This scripture says a lot about our God.  Because of His great love He extends His grace (free gift) to us.  Because of His love, He gives.  What is God?  God is love.  If you really want to know God, you need to learn of His great love for you.

God shows His love to us by freely giving to us what we need in this life and the life to come.  Jesus spoke this very clearly in one of the most popular verses in the Bible.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17

God loves and God shows His love for us by giving to us all we need in this life and the one to come.

Lesson #2 Being Rooted and Grounded in LOVE

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of  our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:14-21

When we learn of God’s riches for us, we are rooted and grounded in His love for us.  We then can comprehend how deep and wide that love is.  It also silences the voice of our enemy when we understand God’s endless and unconditional love for us.   The enemy’s voice often will tell you that you aren’t good enough or haven’t done enough to please God.  That is a lie from the pits of hell.  It is not what we have or haven’t done that causes God to love us.  It is who God is.  God is Love.  (I John 4:7-10)
