A regional crime novel by Simone Homberg

As three students from Mainz go to school in the morning, they make a gruesome discovery.

The police are investigating in various directions because the school has problems with theft and drug trafficking...

A spooky discovery

The Mainz students Lea, Paul and Susi are walking down the street, talking and laughing. "My battery is almost empty!" says Paul, he has been listening to music the whole time. Lea answers "I still have over 30%!" "That's good!" he says. "Did you see how Mrs. Meier and Mr. Müller looked at each other at the Christmas party?" the others laugh "Yes, they must be together!".

The three teenagers continue walking and turn onto Schillerplatz. Suddenly Lea screams "Ahhhhh!"

The two of them look at her in surprise. "What's going on?" asks Susi. Lea silently points to the carnival fountain. Now the others see what frightened them so much: there is a corpse sitting right on top of the figures in the middle of the fountain.

They recognize him immediately, it is Mr. Müller, their sports teacher.

The three students are shocked, he is sitting up there on the figures and blood has run down his head and face.

Lea takes out her smartphone and calls the police, while the three students turn away; they can no longer bear the sight.

A short time later, the police arrive and cordon off the area.

An older policewoman introduces herself to the three teenagers; it is Inspector Obermeier.

She has a pad and pen in her hand and is questioning the students.

"What? You know the dead man, that's unusual!" she remarks.

The students look at each other briefly and then ask in shock, “You don’t suspect us, do you? We just found him!”

The inspector answers them, "Calm down! I don't suspect you, but you can certainly tell me more about him. Tell me everything that's going on at your school! Especially anything that has to do with Mr. Müller, including rumors."

Lea, Paul and Susi seem unsettled, the inspector tries to ask cautious questions, "What kind of teacher was Mr. Müller, did you students like him?"

Lea says, "Well, Mr. Müller is..., er, was our sports teacher, we were quite happy with him, I must say."

Paul adds, “Yes, he was a typical PE teacher and didn’t grade us too harshly, which most of us liked!”

"Most of them?
