The sirtfood diet has made several appearances over the years, but just as quietly as it comes, it fades away. The reason for this is simple; there has been no way to verify its staggering claims...until now. It’s hard to believe that a diet that helps you lose 99lb. in three weeks by activating your "skinny gene" while allowing you eat chocolate and drink wine can work. But with more celebrities (Adele, boxer David Haye, Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa, Jodie Kidd etc.), opening up to reveal how the sirtfood diet played a big hand in their weight loss, more attention had to be given.
The sirtfood diet is a science-backed diet focusing on the protein called "sirutin". This protein can be found in all living things and when activated by some super sirtuin boosting foods can mimic the effect of fasting on the body. This reflects changes in the glycogen stores in the skeletal muscle and liver, promoting a rapid burning of more calories and an improved metabolism.
This diet was developed by Glen Matten and Adian Goggins, nutrition experts with a Masters degree in Nutritional Medicine. According to them, the sirtuin rich foods contain a "chemical called polyphenols which replicate the effect of fasting and exercise on the body. A diet built around such food, stirs up the sirtuin pathway which initiates the weight loss process. When the initial pilot was tested, they were amazed by the results. The study showed an average of seven pounds was lost in seven days, whilst either maintaining or in some subjects increasing muscle mass.

"The SirtFood Diet" A book published in 2016, Goggins and Matten wrote of an experiment conducted at KX, a fitness center in London. They reported 39 of the 40 members who participated in the diet plan saw an weight loss of 7 lbs in seven days with noticeable muscle gain.
Their theory was simple: an enzyme called sirtuin present in our body could be triggered by consuming high sirtuin rich meals, also known as the sirtfood diet. The beauty of this diet focuses on short term weight loss with significant results when done correctly.
There are many sirtfoods with marvelous weight loss benefits. The most common include:
Buckwheat, Capers, Chili pepper, Chicory, Celery, Cocoa, Coffee, Green tea, Kale, Medjool Dates, Parsley, Red Onion, Red Wine,
Soy, Green Beans, Turmeric, Popcorn, Walnuts, Asparagus.
For Fruits:
Blackberries, Blueberries, Blackcurrant, Apples, Cranberries, Gagi berries, Red grapes, Plums, Strawberries and Raspberries.
For Vegetables:
Artichokes, Asparagus, Broccoli, Bok Choy, Chicory, Lettuce, Onions, Shallots, Watercress Green beans.
Others Include:

...And Sirtuins?
The enzyme Sirtuins (SIRTs), are a group of seven proteins found in the body, they form the basis of the nutritional form and regulate a variety of functions in the body. These include metabolism, inflammation and increased lifespan.
These enzymes are particularly found in skinny people or are released by the body when fasting. Sirtuins occur naturally and these proteins are present in a variety of food that we eat. If you were maintaining a diet rich in Sirtuin foods, you would stimulate the skinny gene that helps you lose weight while building muscle.
Qiang Tong, who worked at the Baylor College of Medicine in Texas as an associate professor is also an expert on the influence of sirtuins' brown fat tissue.
According to him lean people have a higher amount of brown fat tissue present in their body when compared to obese people. It was discovered that the introduction of a sirtuin rich diet can help activate more brown fat and help keep people lean'” – a theory confirmed by in a 2012 scientific study journal.
The diet is broken into 2 phases which spans over three weeks. Phase 1 is called the “Hyper Success Phase” while Phase 2 is called the “Maintenance Mode”
Phase 1: The 7 Day ‘Hypersuccess Phase’,
This phase detoxifies the body and prepares it for the weight loss. It lasts for a week and is divided into two stages. The first stage sees a strict calorie intake of just 1000 calories per day for 3 days. Meal plans include 3 sirtfood green juices and 1 meal (contained in this cookbook). In this phase, the sirtuins are introduced to the body and the body gradually becomes “programmed” to lose weight.
The second stage; the remaining four days, calorie intake is increased to 1500 calories per day with two sirtfood juices and two sirtfood rich meals.
Phase 2: The “Maintenance Mode”
This consists of a 14-day maintenance plan, by now the sirtuin gene in the body has been activated and the body carries on its weight-loss function smoothly. This phase does not focus on calorie restriction and the only thing left to do is consolidate your weight loss. For each day, meal plan consists of three sirtfood rich meals and one green juice.
After these three weeks, you are encouraged to repeat the two phases as often as you’d like. However, there is no set plan and it is all about lifestyle and incorporating sirtfoods regularly into your meals by utilizing the contents of this recipe book.
