End-Time Terminology Glossary

Desolation's Abomination – The Antichrist will demand worship from everyone on the planet (Rev. 13). This is the abomination that will bring about enormous desolation.

All who participate in this heinous sin shall be desolate, or destroyed, by God's wrath (Dan. 9:27; Mt. 24:15; Mk. 13:14; 2 Thess. 2:3-4). This religion is predicated on the Antichrist (also known as the Beast) erecting a statue (or idol) of himself in the Jerusalem temple.

This image will be given the ability to breathe and speak by a demon (Rev. 13:14-15). When the Antichrist places this idol in the Jerusalem temple, he will claim to be God. Without worshiping the Antichrist in front of this image, no one will be able to purchase or trade (Rev. 13:16-18). Those who resist will be hunted down as state criminals and face martyrdom.

This is one of the most important end-of-the-world prophetic indicators. This figure was mentioned 10 times by John (Rev. 13:14, 15 [3x]; 14:9, 11; 15:2; 16:2; 19:20; 20:4). Nine times (Dan. 8:13; 9:26, 27; 11:31; 12:11; Mt. 24:15; Mk 13:14; 2 Thess. 2:3-4; Rev. 13:12-18) the abomination is addressed or portrayed.

The abomination of desolation system, which will mobilize and finance the Antichrist's global worship movement (Rev. 13:13-18), will include the image of the Beast and the mark of the Beast. Antichrist's adherents will be mobilized by the Beast's visage, and those who resist will be punished. The Beast's mark will offer financial support for the Antichrist's worship movement while punishing those who refuse.

The word "advent" comes from the Latin word adventus, which meaning "arrival," "coming," or "presence." Both the first and second comings of Jesus are referred to as the first and second advent.

Angelic Explanations - This is the term we use to describe the five portions that serve as a parenthesis in the framework of the book of Revelation. As can be seen in the chronological parts, they put the main storyline of the book on "hold." An angel explains to John why the judgment events in the historical parts must be so terrible in these verses. They respond to questions such as, "Why is God's wrath so severe?" that arise from the chronological portions.

What will become of us? Angels describe what occurs to God's people, including what Jesus will do to assist us and what the Antichrist will do to punish us, to John. Rev. 7:1-17; 10:1-11:14; 12:1-14:20; 17:1-19:10; 21:9-22:5 are the five angelic answers. Antichrist – Anti means "against" or "in place of."

The Antichrist is a demonized man who will oppose Christ and desire to be adored by countries rather than Jesus. He will be the leader of the most powerful and evil global empire in history. For the next 42 months, the Antichrist will be given authority to wage war against Israel and the Church. (Revelation 13:5) For 42 months, the Gentiles will oppress Jerusalem under the leadership of the Antichrist (Rev. 11:2). For 1,260 days, the two witnesses prophesy in Jerusalem (Rev. 11:3). For 1,260 days (Rev. 12:6), the remnant of Israel will be hidden from the Antichrist in the wilderness, also known as time, times, and half a time (Rev. 12:14). For time, times, and half a time, or three and a half years, the Antichrist will be given authority to wage war against the Christians (Dan. 7:25). After three and a half years, or time, times, and half a time (Dan. 12:7), Israel's strength will be entirely crushed. The terms time and times refer to one year, two years, and half a year, respectively.

2 Thessalonians 2:3–12; 1 John 2:18–22; Rev. 13:1–18).

Another Beast — In Rev.13:11, another name for the False Prophet is given.

Apocalypse - Apocalypse is a Greek word that means "unveiling or disclosing" and can be translated as "disclosure." It's another term for the book of Revelation, which discloses or displays Jesus' grandeur and His end-time war plan to wipe evil off the face of the earth.

Apostasy — A separation from the Christian faith (Mt. 24:9-13; 2 Thes. 2:3; 1 Timothy 4:1-2; 2 Timothy 3:1-7; 4:3-4; 2 Peter 2:1-3). Someone who has "fallen away" from the Christian religion is referred to as an apostate.

Armageddon Campaign - A massive military operation that will last three and a half years before Jesus arrives. The struggle will culminate in the Battle of Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:3; 14:1-2), when the nations of the world gather to wage war against Jesus (Rev. 16:13-16). This campaign's military staging area will be around the hill of Megiddo in northern Israel. Many people refer to Armageddon as Harmagedon, which means "the hill of Megiddo." Megiddo is a historic city in the Jezreel Valley, also known as Esdraelon.

Babylon – Babylon was the capital of the Babylonian Empire, which was located in what is now Iraq, in the lower valley of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. This alludes to the literal city of Babylon in Iraq, which will be rebuilt and utilized as one of the Antichrist's headquarters (50 miles south of Baghdad). It will serve as the hub of satanic religious and economic networks all across the world (Rev. 17-18). Babylon (in Iraq) will be rebuilt in the same way that Jerusalem rose from the ashes and was rebuilt. Many of the exact specifics regarding Babylon's rapid and everlasting destruction predicted in Jeremiah 50-51 and Isaiah 13-14:21 have yet to be fulfilled. In history, they were only partially realized.

Antichrist is referred to as the Beast 36 times in the Bible (Rev. 13; 14:9-11; 17:3-17; 19:19-21; 20:4, 10).

The biblical canon is the body of writings that has been authorized as Scripture. The Bible's 66 books are the only ones we recognize as canonical.

Because it is divinely inspired and infallible, the book of Revelation is a canonical prayer manual.

It will bring the end-time prayer movement together.

The term "chronological parts" refers to the five sections that make up the structure of the book of Revelation and depict the judgment events that take place on Earth as part of God's end-time plan. The 21 judgment events (seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven bowls) occur in chronological order on earth throughout the Great Tribulation and the millennial rule. Rev. 6; Rev. 8-9; Rev. 11:15-19; Rev. 15-16; and Rev. 19:11-21:8) are the five chronological portions.

Daniel's 30 days – An angel told Daniel in Daniel 12:11 about a 30-day period that would last longer than the commonly accepted 1,260 days (three and a half years) during which God supernaturally provides for the remnant of Israel (Rev. 12:6, 14), the two witnesses prophesy (Rev. 11:3), and the Antichrist persecutes the saints (Rev. 13:5).

When Jesus appears in the sky at the seventh trumpet to rapture the saints, this period comes to a close (Rev. 11:17).
