Evening came. The sun went down and it became dark.

جَاءَ المَسَاءُ. غَرُبَتِ الشَّمسُ، وحَلَّ الظَّلَامُ.

“It’s time to sleep, Alice,” Mom said.

قَالَتِ الأُمُّ: "إِنَّهُ وَقتُ النَّومِ، أليس."

Alice was jumping on her bed. “I don’t want to go to bed yet!” she complained. “I’m not tired at all, Mom! Do I have to sleep?”

كَانَت أليس تَقفِزُ عَلَى فِرَاشِهَا، و قَالَت بِتَذَمُّرٍ: "لا أُرِيدُ الذَّهَابَ إلى فِرَاشِي الآن! أنا لَستُ مُتعَبَةً عَلى الإطلَاق أُمِّي! هَل يَجِبُ عَلَيَّ النَّوم؟"

Mom patted her head and said gently, “You need to go to sleep now. It will help you become strong and full of energy tomorrow.”

رَبَتَتِ الأُمُّ عَلَى رَأسِهَا بِحِنِّيَّةٍ: "يَجِبُ عَلَيكِ النَّومِ الآن، سَوفَ يُسَاعِدُكِ عَلَى أنْ تُصبِحِي قَوِيَّةً و مَليئَةً بالطَّاقَةِ غَدًا."

Alice agreed and nodded her head.

وَافَقَت أليس و أَومَأَت بِرأسِهَا.

“So are you ready for bed?” Mom asked.

سَأَلَتِ الأُمُّ: "إذًا هَل أنتِ مُستَعِدَّةٌ للنَّومِ؟"

“I think so,” Alice answered, shrugging her shoulders.

أجَابَت أليس وهي تَهُزُّ كَتِفَيهَا: "أَظُنُّ ذلك."

“Let’s see,” said Mom. She sat on the bed and cuddled her daughter.

قالت الأُمُّ: " لِنَرَ." جَلَسَت عَلَى الفِرَاشِ و احتَضَنَت طِفلَتَها.
