"I think once leadership meant imposing itself, today is to possess the necessary qualities to deserve people's esteem.
In the past, the word leader was reserved for a small elite group of people: the wealthy captain of industry, the great politician, the brave military commander. Very few were their people who could be defined and considered as such.
Today the words leader and leadership have entered the universal language and have becomewithin everyone's reach. Just look at any job's job posting page to discover that most companies are looking for collaborators with "strong skills leadership. " But the concept of the term has changed: if before it was indicated with it a "leader charismatic» a« guide »(Leader derives from the English verb to lead, which means precisely «to guide,» «to lead»), now it combines more frequently with who it can drive himself.
And the task is not easy at all. If in general, we can give the right advice to those who come to us, their difficulty of the moment efficiently managing to identify the behaviors that limit and what it should be done to achieve a different result when we find ourselves in the same difficulty we suddenly have enormous resistance to giving us the same advice and, above all, to follow them. Justifications that did not apply to others become instead acceptable to us and those changes which, in our opinion, were so easy to implement, they have become surprisingly demanding.
Driving oneself is not easy and whoever manages to do it immediately becomes a point of reference for others, a leader in the eyes of those who do not have this ability.
So this book aims to help you develop the main features and abilities that make a person a leader of himself:
1. Sense of responsibility.
A leader, by definition, takes responsibility for his group, a leader for himself takes responsibility for one's life. And aware of being responsible for his positive or negative results. Do not blame the circumstances or the external environment for how he feels and what he can or cannot do. Still, he takes full responsibility for it, and therefore
he knows that it is up to him to change the situation and that he has the power to do it.
2. Management of moods.
Knowing how to manage your emotional state is the fundamental characteristic of those who know how to handle themselves same, of those who manage to get out of unproductive emotional states when they are
become an obstacle: fear, insecurity, depression, anxiety, stress are all emotions with
their precise meaning but which we cannot afford to give too much space to certain situations. Unmanaged fear can make us go ball in front of the audience
just as, if managed well, it can provide us with the adrenaline needed to communicate with more
effectiveness.
We will see how communication with ourselves conditions our moods and how these are determined by the combined use of our mind and our body and finally how to use this mechanism to our advantage.
3. Decision-making power.
We are the total of the decisions we have made in our life from the first moment radically the trend of our existence. Quality of leaders is to decide quickly and with confidence and, rarely, retrace your steps.
4. Know what you want.
A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder, and sooner or later, it will end up on the rocks.
Too many people don't know where they are going, they don't have short, medium, or long goals end and live by the day, carried by the waves. If we want to guide ourselves, it is fundamental to know where. We will dedicate ourselves to discovering our mission,
the importance of a clear vision in our mind that guides us to achieve results that we have set ourselves in the various areas of our personal and professional life.
We will learn to program the mind towards our goals.
5. The clarity in terms of values.
What is most important to you in life? Our values are the compass that unconsciously drives every decision, and most of us don't have a clue how it all does functions.
6. Ability to create positive relationships.
The Leader is distinguished by his ability to create bonds and attract people to himself. Man is a social being and needs to join others; no one has ever been able to create something big completely alone.
7. Do what's "right."
The Leader listens to his heart and ultimately does what he thinks is right. The ability to listen to us,
to feel within ourselves the answers to our questions, allows us to move consistent with our principles and, consequently, to live free of internal conflicts that characterize the existence of many people, always debated between what in their hearts they would like to make and their fears, the external conditionings and all the limitations that they house in their mind. We will understand how mind, heart, and bowels can create friction between them and how to overcome these internal conflicts.
We are ready to start.
First, however, I want to give you the latest instructions for using this book, so that I can draw from it maximum benefits.
The book was born to be a sort of training course in print. In learning, excellent results are achieved by not doing, and not only by listening or listening to
passive reading. Nothing prevents you from reading this book like any novel, but if you want to do it yours as much as possible the information in it with seals, always read it with a pen or one pencil available. You will find parts to fill in here and there, practical exercises that will lead you to elaborate on what you will find written personally. Some of these will maybe put yourself in a bit of trouble, make you make a little more effort than if you are limiting yourself to skim. You choose if your purpose in reading Leader says itself is alone informative or if it is training and behave accordingly. The text is written to stimulate you to use it as a training tool for personal growth.
