David Is Kind to Mephibosheth

s any of King Saul’s family still alive?” David asked one day. “I would like to help him.” Saul’s son Jonathan had been David’s spe-

Someone remembered Ziba, a servant of Saul’s family. He would know. So some people brought Ziba to King David. “One of Jonathan’ssons is still living,” Ziba told the king. “He is crippled.”

“Don’t be afraid,” David told Mephibosheth. “Your father and I were good friends. So I will give your grandfather’s land to you. You may eat with me from now on.”

Mephibosheth bowed before the king again. What a kind man David was!

From that day on, Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem. He ate with the king, and the king treated him like a son.
