He didn’t speak for a while, and I let him process everything. For once, I was the one comforting him. This was how it should have been. I let my little brother carry me for far too long. It was time I carried him. Micah still hadn’t let go of me, but I didn’t mind. If I weren’t so numb, I probably would have cried because of how happy I was to see him.

Introduction
Chapter One
Chapter Two
Through books we come into contact with everything important that has happened in the past, analyzing also current events and putting our thoughts together to predict the future. The book is a window to the world, acquiring valuable knowledge and sparking our vivid imagination. It is a means of entertainment and is generally seen as a best friend, or as a slave that carries together all valuable information for us. The book is a friend who stays together without demands, a friend you call upon at every moment and abandon when you want.
It accompanies us in the hours of boredom and loneliness, while at the same time it entertains us. In general, a book does not ask anything from us, while it waits patiently on a dusty shelf to give us its information, to get us out of dead ends and to travel us to magical worlds.
This may be the travel mission of our books. Abstract narration, weird or unconscious thoughts difficult to be understood, but always genuine and full of life experiences, these are stories of life that can’t be overlooked easily.
This may be the start of something amazing.
That Saturday morning, I got up earlier than one o’clock for the first time in months. I wanted to get an early start on my newest plan, and it could all be done from the safety of the couch. Lucian and J.D had stayed at my house and had a relatively quiet evening. I couldn’t give him the impression that I wasn’t letting everything go.
I gave Colton a bath then fixed us some breakfast. I started by reading up on information about the first woman that was found. Her name was Adelaide Crane. She was only seventeen when she died. They’d suspected it was the beginning of a serial killing spree because of the V on her hip and this hunch was proven when the next victim had the same mark. I’d never known where the marks were found, so this was new information to me.
I was reading an article from the Miami Herald when J.D. came into the room. Lucian had left earlier that morning to meet with Noel and discuss Kevin’s new sentence, so it was just the two of us. She’d slept in my guest room and crashed sometime around one a.m. She was wearing black spandex and a shirt that I was positive belonged to Lucian by how expensive it looked. Everything was as it used to be. Almost.
“Morning,” she said while yawning. She picked Colton up, sat next to me with him in her lap, and stared at my laptop. “What are you doing?”
“Gathering information. Don’t tell Lucian, though.”
“My lips are sealed. But not for long. He was so worked up last night that he slept in the chair next to the bed. I might have to put myself in danger more often.”
“Why don’t you just kiss him already? If he’s not going to make a move, then you should.”
“You think? What if I scare him off?”
“At least you’ll know. It’s better than torturing yourself.”
“Okay, I might take your advice.” She grabbed the last bite of Colton’s toast and popped it into her mouth.
“Hey!” he said. “I wanted that.”
“Ignore her, Cole. She doesn’t know any better.”
“You know it,” she said. “I’m going to go to his apartment later. He’s probably still talking with Noel.”
I was in the middle of watching a video about Ash’s case when someone knocked on the door. J.D. had gone into the bedroom to get dressed and I wasn’t expecting anyone. I set my laptop on the table then went to answer it with Colton trailing behind me.
“Micah, hey,” I said. I stepped aside, and he came into the house. That’s when I noticed he was avoiding eye contact. “What’s up?”
“Don’t be mad, but I talked to Nicola. I basically told her everything that’s going on and tried to speak on your behalf. Just because . . . I can’t be with the one I love shouldn’t mean that you can’t.”
“Since when are you a matchmaker?”
“Since now. You’re my brother, and I care about you. Now that you’ve decided to be healthy and live your life, I want to help you in any way I can. You don’t have bloodlust so that can’t be your excuse. Even if you did, I would make sure you didn’t hurt anyone.”
